So, Raster down, time to make my way over to Nagafen's Lair to square off with Targin.

When I completed this part of the quest on live, I was at a level where I was able to walk into the Kings room and wipe it with ease. That being said, in all of my years, I've never camped that area in an exp group, so I'm not really sure what to expect in terms of difficulty.

My question is, is this camp soloable at 44? Judging by the stats provided on the wiki, I think I'd be able to clear the PHs, but is there enough room to split them? I remember reading about mobs from the nearby camps assisting with spells.

I'll probably give it a shot tonight regardless, but would appreciate any tips I could get!

PS - will be on around 9PM EST if anyone would like to join me :)

Here's my magelo for reference.

Definitely not soloable at 44, and not even close. Might be soloable at 54+ if you have a fungi. There are far too many spawns to keep up with, and the kobold shamans alone will probably wreck you, much less the King or Priest if they spawn.

On the plus side, get a group for it, as you are the perfect level to get great exp in a group there.

Terrible post, jolanar...

You just single pull his ph into the lava pit area there is plenty of space on the ledge to fight him.
It won't flee because other mobs are close enough and you only have to kill one mob.

As soon as you can kill 1 ph/Targin, you are able to solo this camp

Unless you are one of those Morans that think monk pulling doesn't work anymore, of course.

For once I agree with DR. The only problem I would say is actually getting to the pit. You better be damn good and FD dancing.

Your best bet is to go during prime time and hope someone is camping royals and ask nicely if you can get the Targin if he spawns.

Tldr: solo in the pit is a yes.

You can check for him with /target Targin at the lavastorm zoneline.

To single him you may ask for a friendly enc/cleric/paladin to crit resist lull pull him (solo!) to the zone line if there is one.

That's what I'm talking about.. Looking forward to giving this a shot tonight!

Is there a way to exit the pit, outside of OT hammer, cap, potion (none of which I have :p), evac, suicide/corpse drag, etc.?

You sir are chock-full of neat tricks. Very cool!

You could have a high level wizard visit the zone and /target /invite you from near the zoneline and translocate you away.

This. You might have to pay for it but if it's only once. If not you could bind in Temple of Ro die and and from from temple to Sol B and drag. It really depends on how much you want to spend and how solo you want to go.

Lol. I learned something new. Wouldn't call this the same thing as clearing the Targin camp though, so I get off on a technicality.

Just zone in from sola, drop down onto the ledge, and fd.

edit: from the lava canyon zoneline.

Something technically being possible and something being actually feasible are not the same. At 44 you will most certainly die trying to solo Targin for the many reasons that Jorg listed.

1) the shamans are a problem. They heal, they slow, and they get adds easily.

2) once you're in the lava pit you are stuck. If you can get a level 60 wizard to come TL you then you might as well have him break the camp for you, if it was broke right it MIGHT work, but I would still bet against you.

3) This is a great XP camp - even if you could solo it I would recommend leveling here anyways in a trio

4) Pulling a PH into the lava pit is no where near as easy as DJ is making it sound, if there are casters or one of the other platforms agro's your chances of living are small and then you have a sh!ty corpse run. Can you even pull the platform once your down there without some sort of Levi?

5) Royals is a popular camp, be patient and you will get a group here or can easily construct one to meet you there.

6) You can maybe get a higher level monk who is solo-killing LDC's to help you clear the camp out, especially if he is already up, but even then I would imagine they would help you since its for Epic.

7) This is a popular camp, your main problem may be finding it not camped already

Yea, I should have mentioned that he will get healed through walls, so really it should have been, "once you can solo 1 ph/targin through a few heals..."

I do enjoy a challenge, but thankfully I realized this was a fool's errand before I
have a sh!ty corpse run.

Ended up forming a trio with a necro and enchanter and steamrolled the area.. surprisingly very efficient comp I may add!

Grinded for a few hours, no sign of Targin. Did get some pretty good exp and had a great time pulling and discovering the classic camps in the area that I'd never explored before.

Appreciate all the input!

I was 51 with a fungi and soloing it pretty nicely until the King came. I could not solo the King. In my opinion, I would think about getting a duo friend that is high 40s and just xp in the area. I duoed there with a mage and a bard and it was pretty easy. Always people there looking for xp.

Did this yesterday on my monk who is 44. Someone was clearing the area so I just waited for hours. No luck. Eventually they left and the room was split so I tried keeping up. I could kill the mobs no problem with a fungi until the king spawned. I ended up bringing my 60 rogue over who also has a fungi and tried to kill the king and I had to reaper to be able to solo the king as a rogue. So what I then started doing was leaving the king's ph up and I was able to solo pull Targin's ph and easily kill with the rogue until Targin spawned. I then just logged my monk over and looted. Took roughly 10 hours.
