View Full Version : Pally Solo question ?
Hello everyone
I am currently leveling my paladin very slowly, i'm looking for some idea for places (if there are) to solo at level 45. My paladin has some reasonable gear i soloed unrest basement til 42ish
If anyone has any places / ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Maybe lower guk? If you want an outdoors area, TT has a lot of high level undead spawns.
Spectres will work as well i guess, but are usually camped.

Spectral champions in TT are good xp at 45.
The Keepers have began to slow down, but if that doesn't bother you maybe consider camping the Pained Soul ph? You could sell an MQ for a tasty 10k, or begin work on your VP key.
If you are hunting in the overground city in TT you may consider picking up a key to Old Sebilis; you have an extra zone line for emergencies (but sometimes it is difficult to zone back out)!

the caster ghouls in lower guk int he sage tower area, will get you to 49. Then the stables and around there in City of mist can get you another level or 2 then at 52 you kinda need to group the rest of the way.

Lower Guk can take you to 57 pretty easily. Just keep working your way closer to Hand/Magi/Lord as you level up. It gets too green at 58, so I'd recommend moving on at that point. I mostly soloed Kedge 58-60, but it's not nearly as pally-friendly as LGuk.
Paladins are underrated soloers, in my opinion. Good luck!

What makes them underrated?

I found dar ghouls, would wreck even at lvl 55 with epic and 41% haste, the soloing you could kill them but the down time is high.

What makes them underrated?
People see their low DPS and assume they can't solo well, but the combination of cheap gear, lulls, roots, bash/stun against low hp caster mobs, and efficient downtime with Deepwater Helm dancing makes them pretty viable. This is especially true in LGuk where ivu makes travel easy and the mobs have fairly low hps.
I am not suggesting they are top tier soloers obviously, but I could manage a solid 6+% an hour soloing Guk up to 57. Not too shabby!

I believe you can do bnb in solb until 52ish.

gonna throw another vote for lguk. it super easy and liek his say, pally solo do is pretty steady even though it not fast. it work okay :3 can be as fun or boring as you liek, but it very repetitive. for some, it maybe akin to sitting you bare butt on broken glass and rocking back and forth while chewing steel bars. for others it maybe fun trying to figure out how to best sit on the glass. and then here those who think the glass build character.
i suggest grouping :3
guk a good place to sit though if you gotta go that route. usually a chanter or shaman around to give you buff and some random peeps to talk to and it pretty easy. and if you mess up, it usually no to train to zone.

get a DW helm, go to CoM, claim one of the "huts" in arena or do the haze golems in the middle, use your helm to heal yourself -- you should get 2% per kill solo....takes about 3-4 mins to solo a haze golem...but you have 0 down time...( dont use your mana to heal unless in a shit situation )
10 mins on average should net you 5% xp, so in one hour you can get 30% of a level solo in CoM -- remember 0 downtime.
i made a video of me soloing my paladin from 46-52 in CoM if I find time I will upload a bit of it.
GOOD LUCK KID!

For some reason none of these scenarios appeal to me. :(
That being said I like the pally. I like how tanky they feel in groups and how easily they manage aggro coupled with healing capabilities.
I also think they are best in groups where they can hold mobs like magnets and let a group do all their functions efficiently.
Sometimes I think paladins are too effective, in a strong group it gets so easy it can be boring.
It's actually more fun when you got bad dps that can't manage their aggro and healers who are afk 90% of the time, then the paladin gets to have fun in a group.

52-60 bear pits
It's a trip to get down to bear pits on a druid, I would assume a pally could only do bear pits in a group. I started bear pits on my druid at lvl 53 I believe...
At 52 lvl, just getting to the pits seems pretty daunting as a melee and then once down there, how would the pally get out?
I think if I were a 52 pally unless I had a nice strong group carrying me with them to the bear pits, I would avoid this spot.
Dr. Jeff might know something I don't though.

yeah, they SUPER FUN in groups ^^ not so much outside groups and liek you say, they most fun (and most useful) in small/poor groups. They great pullers, good cc, okay heals and excellent aggro. lotta those functions are lost solo and it REALLY monotonous.

Think I did giants in Rathe Mts at 45 ish. That or spectres in Oasis. I suggest grouping in KC once you get to 50 though bc I think you're doing yourself a huge disservice by avoiding the scenario where paladins shine the most.
Then at 55 group in Seb preferably in the crypt, lotta undead mobs there. When you get celestial cleansing go back to soloing at VS pit in KC till 60.

"Casting Revive on Dead Thread!"
I know this is an oldish post but I've been leveling my Paladin solo pretty much the whole way so far and he's currently 54. I pretty much did Lower Guk from 35-51, then at 51 I went to SolB and did bats until 54.
At 45 I was killing in Safe hall and stayed there all the way to 51, pulling mobs between there and lord. The hall is a nice spot because you can safely AFK and it's a quiet spot to heal up with your DW helm. I agree with Vizeryn; while not super fast soloers, there's absolutely nothing inefficient about Paladins. DW helm alone gives you like 44hp a tick during downtime, and Divine Purpose is almost like a Fungi for people who can't actually afford a Fungi. I loved Guk and now that bats are greening out I think I'll head back there and solo at AM/Lord!

It's definitely possible, but slower than other classes. I've been soloing guards from 52-53 and yielding 1.5 blues per hour...mind you I'm not twinked out nor do I have epic. Doable, just takes time!

The only fun I can recall from being stuck solo on my paladin was killing Quillmane at even con and getting the cloak. The rest of it was just trying to stave off boredom killing time while lfg.

If your only moment of exhilaration came from killing Pegasus, you should consider playing an anti-paladin instead.
Root-jousting is pretty fun with an Earthshaker...medding in between swings, then rooting (as many) adds (as you're willing to push it) near enough to where you don't get hit but the AE proc does. Even 1v1, a 600 damage round isn't bad at all considering Paladins aren't the damage dealers that other classes are. Once the 2h dmg bonus comes into effect, it will only get better. It's the poor man's class if there ever was one. Infinite heals from DW helm which costs 500p. And, thanks to having root, you can put off saving for a haste item and instead buy one of those cheap, hard-hitting/high-delay Kunark weapons like Argent Defender or Throneblade of the Ykesha for 200-400p.
Also, being able to dungeon crawl is more of a balancing act. It takes a certain amount of skill and luck. No feign death + CoS easymode. Instead you have to move around in increments, using a number of cheap items and spells...CHA gear/DW arms, invis rings, IVU, and root -> camp out as a last option.
Quillmane ain't Pegasus. Also, EQ Paladins are pretty fk'in evil (read the lore, read the quest requirements), and the RL paladins were pretty fkin evil anyway (officers of Charlemagne's court, suck-ups invented the whole notion of "noble" being a good thing rather than the gangster lord serial murderer/rapists they were in truth.)

Nobody cares about your unsourced cliché anecdotes about the Holy Roman Emperor or that your parish preist touched you in confession. There is nothing to 'get' but over to 'Off Topic'.
