Hi everyone,

I have successfully installed the client, and I'm able to login. However, the frame rate is quite choppy, and I'm unable to get it resolved. I've seen some YouTube videos that were running quite smooth, so clearly it must be possible?

I am using the WinEQ2 utility, and I have modified my eqclient.ini file as suggested here in the forums. I've tried turning down the in-game options, running in compatibility mode, and disabling compositing, but nothing seems to help.

I noticed in WinEQ that there is an EQPlayNice option with some settings to control frame rate, but I can't find any guidance on how it should be configured. I just set it to limit FPS to 60, but it also makes no difference.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

After a lot more tinkering, I managed to figure this out on my own.

It seems that WinEQ2 was the source of most (but not all) of my problems, and getting rid of it helped significantly. I also had to disable all the checkboxes in the OptionsEditor tool except for Texture Caching, even having Sound enabled would give the slightest hint of choppiness. Adding vsync=TRUE to my eqclient.ini resolved any screen tearing once the frame rate was sorted out.

I also learned that using the rotation on the character select screen is always choppy no matter what. I had to fully log in to see my true performance.

So, to summarize, in order to achieve 60fps I had to:

1) Get rid of WinEQ2
2) Disable all checkboxes except for Texture Caching in OptionsEditor
3) Add vsync=TRUE to eqclient.ini
4) Log in completely to see the results

Hope this helps!

The rotation actually plays at 60+fps, the reason it's so choppy is it snaps at like 10° increments XD

I had tried using this as a shortcut to avoid having to log all the way in and out while testing different options, but without an on-screen FPS meter all I have to go on is my eyes.

Now I know why this doesn't work, thanks for the info!

I had Shadows turned off the entire time, since they are always a resource hog. I thought the Advanced Lighting was the same as the Dynamic Lighting in OptionsEditor?
