So what do you miss?

Playing classic EQ has renewed my love for the game. Travel and death are meaningful again, the newbies zones have actual newbies in them once again. Players are coming and going from cities, and all the rest of it. The player base seems to have those same positive, helpful, friendly attitudes that I remember from days of old. I am just so happy that the folks at Project 1999 took this task on, I can't even tell you how much. I shall definitely be sending some support their way.

But...

There are somethings I mis. Granted, I will gladly do without. What I have gained by playing here far outstrips the things I miss. Having said that though, I do miss certain things. For one, and I may be in the minority here, but I have always preferred the Luclin char models. Not a big deal, just a matter of taste I suppose.

I also miss horses. not mounts per se. I just always liked the horses. I worked long and hard to acquire enough plat to buy a black chain bridle and had a real sense of accomplishment when I bought it. I didn't care so much about speed or meditating aid, I just think they looked cool. Drogs,,,meh....good for evil non-human races that no sensible, self-respecting horse would ever allow on their back I guess. And the more recent mounts I can't stand but I did like the horses.

What I miss most of all though are spell sets. I would give my left testicle for spell sets. I suppose that eventually I will make the adjustment but man, I do miss those.

Spell sets were convenient. I missed them at first but you'd be surprised how quickly you adapt. I had forgotten what it meant to keep my spell book organized.

I like classic eq and don't want these implemented - but quality of life stuff I miss:
-compass
-light blue con
-spell sets (hehe)
-buff timers!!
-shared bank
-maps?

Regarding maps - I like that you have to learn the zone layout by memory but it would be useful for zones like the ocean of tears (huge with random islands), Karanas, burning woods, etc. But - opening up eq atlas and learning how to navigate with sense heading and /loc isn't terribly complicated.

This is from Live may 17th 2017 patch notes:
- In classic zones (Velious and earlier), many weapons, shields, and other held items have reverted to their classic appearance.

It would seem the better question to ask is What does live miss from Classic-Velious EQ.
(wonder where they got the era accurate info ;) )

Do you think live would ever try to make a move on p99 by doing a classic-velious server? I don't think they would but who knows.

i will never play another soe/dbg product though because of how they destroyed every game I ever lieked.

I'd like to see the Compass, Spell Sets/Right Click Mem'ing, and Trade Skill Interface. Hiding helm and ground targeting ring would be nice too.

I can do without maps and PoK books, even if PoP was my favorite expansion.

I don't really miss anything from live. I do miss some things from early p99 though.

L50 planar raids in garbage gear. Rolling with Krimz and the IV folks, breaking fear with 1 group. Morlaeth passing out in the middle of a group and being like 2 levels higher when he woke up. Poop socking inside the fire ring with like 80 IB and DA members, joining up with Bossco and Mellyn to spam languages even though we were in competing guilds. Not being able to turn a corner in game without running into a gaggle of Gothic Circle people. Abacab and his shenanigans. Giving Hammer shit for having the musical taste of a 75 year old woman. Perun being a worthless ranger before joining the ranks of the monk master race. Spending hours in Sky with Eldub and Rhalous (sp? Divinity/IB wizard) trying to figure out new pull mechanics. Zilo being the top dps player on the server, and his mings. Watching FE go from being a bunch of BDA scrubs to a solid raiding guild.

In short, mostly miss the people.
