Anyone have experience with playing on both P99 and TLP servers? If so I am curious how the classes are different between the two. I have heard Monks are overpowered and Rogues are not the DPS powerhouses like they are here. Makes it kind of hard to figure out what my friends and I will play when things are not really how we remember them back in the day or even on P99.

There are already many, many threads on this. I highly recommend searching for them.

The TLDR is that all the classes are balanced so that no one is OP (or that everyone is OP, depending on your outlook) so pick literally anything and you will be fine.

just create a human and try to find your way out of "Freeport" in 10 minutes or less.

rookies, just open the map and select something outside the city and follow the classic glowy glitter trail, 2min tops.

I've just started familiarizing myself with Daybreak EQ progression servers. The first thing I noticed is the gear you get from the Mines of Gloomingdeep (a noob zone you start out in) quests are better than most shit in Vinalla/Kunark. All the classes have modernized spells and abilities -- making them generically more powerful but also more balanced.

What I haven't got a chance to figure out, is how many non-classic op items there are. Also I think a few zones that are op by classic standards are in: the warrens and stonebrunt.

P99 has minor things wrong all the time.

I remember the Spells Color Flux and Color Shift used to work perfectly together. You could cast and land color Shift before Color Flux wore off. That never happens on p99.
