View Full Version : Are all pickup groups expected to be "greed" rules on armor/weapons?

Basically, I don't want to run into some situation and be caught off guard. I read some posts recently and it was a little odd that something was expected to be NBG.

I could see spells being NBG...

I haven't really grouped at anything yet with any substantial loot. And despite my crappy newb gear, I don't really expect strangers to hand me loot because I haven't farmed pixels as hard as others, nor would I want to hand over for same reasons.

Depends on the worth of the item I would think. If you're in KC and an item worth 200-500pp drops; I could see most people readily agreeing to NBG. No way those same people NBG a T-staff though.

Need before greed should never be the expectation.

The only NBG groups I've been in within the last year were a few Kael runs that I and my monk buddy hosted and could have duo'd. The group runs smoother/faster with 3 or 4 total so we usually added a plate and/or silk class. We also stated clearly up front before adding or inviting.

For random pickup groups - expect to random on everything. It's simply the most fair way to handle loot.

All pickup groups are expected to be greed groups down to that gold earring that dropped from an orc pawn, unless otherwise stated up front.

/Expect this and you will not be disappointed.
How you act is up to you but never expect nbg on this server, plat rules this server sad to say.

Talk it over with the group when you join. The rules are whatever you all agree on.

In CB or DF orc groups I usually offer to run a rotation on belts for people interested in them. But that's a low level thing.

Clearing corpses in Oasis I picked up at of research components. Sometimes people want those and I'll just hand them over, no big deal.

Talk to the group. Good Communications are key.

NbG only applies to premade groups, if you're forming a pug the standard expected is greed roll on anything valuable. Those people are more than likely there for the pla.

Nobody actually "needs" anything in his game, so there you have it. Unless you're schnickasaurus then you need platinum or you may starve IRL

Auld Lang Syne says hello :)

On a related note, if you really want the excitement of a drop mattering, and guild members who understand need ALWAYS comes before greed, come play with us!

"Need" is always relative. For anything sellable to other players, everyone 'needs' plat. Outside of close friends, guildmates, and pre-agreed on loot rules - everyone rolls.

It sucks to lose out on items/spells you needed on a greed roll (has happened to me countless times) but that's really the only fair way to handle things in the long run.

Sure I don't NEED torpor, but my monk NEEDS a fungi and t staff. Torpor sale oughta solve that eh?

Lol never saw this one. That guy was so full of it. Talking about how he busts his ass pulling for his group. Motherfucker then dont pull if youre busting your ass doing it, go solo to 60. Never understood monks who dont like pulling. Probably the most fun this game has to offer and they act like its a chore.

Also he displayed the most amount of greed by losing and then saying he needs it. That shit would infuriate me more than me losing a torpor roll.

But under the influence of what does that make someone think they are entitled to the best great lol...

In a 8 year old progression server, yes.

The good news: the odds that the people you are grouped with are on something other than their 4th alt is incredibly minimal and most pre-Sebilis drops you'll get as default, and probably get to hoover 90% of the trash loot.

This is the official mantra of guild hoppers.

Speaking of which.. joining a guild and getting into guild groups is the only real way to truly experience NBG on p99. It will never, ever happen in pickup groups
