recently noticed large text output in-game is causing a freeze/stutter for 1-2 seconds - depends on size. i'm assuming there's some kind of communication issue when transcribing the data into log files. I tried deleting all logs and turning logs on/off but it's not working. not sure why this is only happening recently. any advice?

How big are your log files? After 100mb or so I've noticed similar problems.

Are your log files on a network share? That would be causing it.

Move your EQ directory out of Program Files if you haven't. Also, do you ever edit your log files? If you make a change in a log file and save for any reason it can corrupt them and cause this write issue. Even perhaps just opening it and saving without any editing - if you're using a text editor that autosaves to view your logs then that might be the culprit.

Log files are not in a shared network drive and I've deleted them all to start fresh. Also p99 folder is not in program files but rather on the same level. I don't think I ever saved them, but if I did I've deleted them since but it's still causing game stutters. Not using a text editor either as I just open it up in notepad

I experience microfreezes every time my log file is written to, even on a fast SSD. No idea why, but I did find a workaround that is totally convoluted, but works for me.
I create a 50mb RAMdisk automatically on bootup, and I have my Logs folder junctioned there. Log files get written to RAM and get wiped every reboot; if I need to keep a log I will manually save it to my SSD.

Are you guys using any third party apps like GINA or GamParse? Only other thing I can think of is maybe something that's reading the log files is doing something wonky and causing your machine to stutter with each new line.

I use GINA and have never had this issue, even with logs 150mb+

if you use WIN 10, tell Windows Defender to NOT scan your EQ folder
