I'm wondering, is anyone smart? Do we actually have any smart people on earth? Or is everyone deep down, an asshole just making it up as they go along?

What makes someone smart?

Might there be a chance that histories smartest minds are actually just, other dumbasses? Could it be true?

Who is smart and why? Anyone. Jesus. Einstein. Eddy Murphy. Anyone?

Can you disprove the intelligence of some of our posters most favorite minds?

There are two kinds of sufferers in this world: those who suffer from a lack of life and those who suffer from an overabundance of life. I've always found myself in the second category. When you come to think of it, almost all human behavior and activity is not essentially any different from animal behavior. The most advanced technologies and craftsmanship bring us, at best, up to the super-chimpanzee level. Actually, the gap between, say, Plato or Nietzsche and the average human is greater than the gap between that chimpanzee and the average human. The realm of the real spirit, the true artist, the saint, the philosopher, is rarely achieved.

Why so few? Why is world history and evolution not stories of progress but rather this endless and futile addition of zeroes. No greater values have developed. Hell, the Greeks 3,000 years ago were just as advanced as we are. So what are these barriers that keep people from reaching anywhere near their real potential? The answer to that can be found in another question, and that's this: Which is the most universal human characteristic - fear or laziness?

Only a human would ever argue this. No Animal or Alien would agree that some guy that is good at painting or pioneering comprehensive worldviews is as different from an average human as a chimp.

I wouldn't even argue that.

If you don't subscribe to Great Man Theory then you likely wouldn't be able to make the argument for that comparison

I'm not sufficiently cynical to believe everyone is an asshole, but neither am i sufficiently naive to believe any rational choice is not self-serving, whether it is acknowledged by the actor or not.

im trying to figure out the point of this thread. i like it though because aside from the topic being people, it is somewhat more abstract ^^

All I know is, in the same world where Mr Smarty Pants Einstein was alive, we elected Trump.

So, thanks to Einstein, we have trump.

Not very smart, Einstein.

MickCuckanus - just let it go bro. If you libs would have picked someone other than literally the most corrupt politician in Washington DC you would have probably ran away with the race. Hillary should be in jail. Period. Trump was the only choice, and I personally feel he is doing a pretty good job so far. F#ck North Korea and its time we finally tell them to f#ck themselves publically.

Voted Bsh/twr

you can instantly increase productivity by disassociating the idea of smart and dumb...

replaced with a more work oriented results ethic even the "dumbest" will excel

This writing and argument here is reminiscent of every book in the 18th century. Except the sentences are 3 times as long and written poorly.
