I feel like there should be warn decays if I'm a good guy for a year and then I snap once I mean fuck good behavior should count a little bit. One minor infraction for a year of PVP and bam I get hit with months.

I also never fuck with the GM's except saying their in enemies pocket but thats more just fucking around.

I'm astounded by how frequent suspensions happen here and how casually people discuss them. You'd think they were chatting about their car being in the shop.

Why not make an effort to be better people? If you REALLY are so in love with causing misery, you should go play EVE.

Well to be fair red99 has a very long history of people being suspended for the most trivial of things. Remember Tune being suspended because he auto attacked for exactly one hit on a player in lavastorm that was "looting and scooting", in the middle of mass pvp.

With the sheer volume of suspensions (and permanent bans) given out, one should reassess the rules in place. If these many suspensions are given out when GMs are "on the scene looking" how many times are these "rules" being broken at other times?

Like prohibition, when laws are constantly being broken by so many people, its time to discontinue the law.

There are still many dozens of good players that were here from day 1, that won't log in because of this issue.

The solution? Go back to the server rules that server launched with. In game systems should be used when ever possible to achieve the server behavior GMs are looking for. That is simple, fair, and applied equally.

tl;dr: scrap the play nice policy and reinstate early server life game rules and mechanics. (xp loss on pvp death, increased level range at the higher levels, etc)

Current GM is already in the process of being burned out (the signs are there for all to see) on red99. He will be replaced at some future date by a new GM who will come in, met out a couple dozen suspensions, tweak the rules as he is lawyer quested to death, then burn out in his turn. Rinse/repeat as we have seen since 2012.

Stop the madness and return to the golden age.

The current active player base has not demonstrated that reversing the PNP would lead to a more positive experience. They have a hard enough time obeying LNS (hello, Smallmee!) as it is. Removing the rules that keep these sadists at least sometimes-civil would be dangerous for the new player experience.

Sullon Zek had xp loss on pvp death and it worked.

Rallos ruleset would be a close second for server choice, I started on Rallos in EQ beta. Unfortunately everyone would be only in no drop and/or bag all their dropables soon as someone zoned in. On the upside shin greaves would be a thing again, along with all the other no drop garbage we use to have to wear..

There is one more slight upside to rallos/item loot that ties into another "unclassic" thing on this pvp server, and that is 3rd person view as opposed to forced 1st person. Melee are made WAY STRONGER on this server than they are supposed to be all on account of the client lets us get out of forced first person view. This is a big reason why melee are too strong in pvp vs. casters in this era on this server. Forcing (especially lower level) melees to down grade some of their gear to no drop garbage would help mitigate that, so there is that.

So yes honestly either clone rallos ruleset, or sullon zek. That pill can be made easier to swallow by those in charge since they can tell themselves "well its classic now". If they must. And others can be silenced with the same line.

But what we have now is awful. My logging in dropped like a rock when I saw people being suspended for auto attacking a single hit on enemies "looting and scooting" in the middle of mass pvp.

We need in game systems, not posted books of rules. Let people do what they want (except training) so long as they are willing to pay the xp death price. Risk/Reward/Consequence/Freedom.

tl'dr: Keep it classic. Clone rallos or sullon ruleset and step back from out sandbox.

Are you being ironic in your use of the word useless?

Obviously a cleric could be parked as a reset rez bot or be used as a battle rezzer.

An Enc might be focussing on CC or charm dps.

The wizard could be mobilising people.

The warrior could be beserk/precision on dps fights, or even be in the tanking line up but never get his chance to step up.

Are you saying having a geared warrior that doesn't tank is a waste, or are you saying having a geared warrior that doesn't tank is not a waste?

Possible alternatives to bans:

Your character consumes food and drink at 20x the normal rate.
Your character loses the ability to swim and drowns immediately whenever in water.
Bind move to Timorous Deep iceberg permanently.
Your character develops a drinking problem.
Loot pinata mode. You drop items when killed and heralds broadcast your character location.
