So I recently moved my entire EQ folder to my new SSD drive so that I can load faster ect ect - I've done this with all my games basically. All of them work fine.....except P99...every time I zone or log all my hotkeys get reset (spells, abilities) and when I log out and back in I have to change all my key mappings..EVERY TIME!...Its also not remembering my login name on the emu server login now.

Im sure this is a situation where I only moved 'some' of the file and not all of them and they are not being able to interact or whatever, but I cannot for the life of my figure out what I need to do. My EQ folder I thought was completely self contained.

please help before I break something from having to remap my spell bubbles every time I zone

EDIT: Not to mention I have to set up new chat windows every single time I log in now!!!!

Haha, +1, your comment made me laugh as much as the OP's rage...

In all seriousness.. sounds like a complete reinstall is in order!

It sounds like Everquest does not have write permission in its new folder.

What is the path to your EQ installation?

If you right click and run as administrator do your settings still revert from that session?

Where was the folder before you moved it to your SSD. If you move it back does everything fix itself. If you do that then you know you didnt move everything.

Some times it is just easier to reinstall and copy your UI files over.

this is most likely the problem. if that is in order, do a reinstall directly to the SSD.

Let me guess, you installed EQ in the directory C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)?

Every time you move your UI windows around in-game, EQ remembers this by overwriting data in your UI_character_project1999.ini file.

Putting your EQ folder in Program Files or Program Files (x86) introduces a lot of issues with EQ having the right permission to overwrite files.

You should instead simply install it directly into the C:\ directory like so: C:\Sony\Everquest.

Alternatively, you keep your directory where it is and right-click "Run as Administrator" each and every time you play EQ.

This was the fight answer - moved the folder out of Programs (x86) to just the main drive menu and everything works great now. Thank you kind sir.

You can modify the shortcut so it launches in admin mode so you don't have to right click each time:
