Yeah, I know... flame away when you're done reading this, or begin now. I have satellite internet at my current residence. Is anyone successfully playing P99 with satellite?

I have Hughesnet and they claim that if I upgrade my current plan I'll get faster speeds that will allow online gameplay. However, I'm extremely hesitant considering that the "faster speeds" aren't what I need. I know latency is everything and without it, I can kiss my gameplay goodbye, but I'm reaching out here in the hopes that there is somebody somewhere that is successfully playing P99 on Satellite so we can discuss what it might take to make that a reality.

BTW - NO, I have not even attempted to login once to P99 from my satellite connection, I normally head over to my buddy's house once a week to play, but it's simply not enough to get anywhere in P99.

I look forward to reading all of the replies, both good and bad ;)

Thanks!

Why haven't you tried p99 on your current connection?

Are you just assuming it won't work? You should see if it actually doesn't work, no? lol

I'm basically getting a 5 second latency, hell... most servers wouldnt even let me connect with a ping like that (yes i literally speed tested it at 5225ms once).

Just get a cellphone and tether for internet useage. EQ eats up very little data.

We run a 7/2 WISP and I have no problem connecting to p99 with upto 20 users on at one time. I think you might want to realign your dish if you are getting 5k latency or look into how your network is setup up.

Hughesnet is garbage I feel for ya. It could possible just be them too.

No cell service where we live. I'm pretty damn far out, hence the satellite. I'm going to call hughes and see if i can have my latency improved. A little research and I've concluded that I should be closer to 1000 - 1500ms on satellite, nowhere near as bad as I'm at currently. With those numbers, it may be possible. Thanks for the advice!

I know this will sound weird but dialup purely for Eq. It has low latency like 300-400.

I played forsaken world on Hughesnet. Find pots or cell satellites suck for games

Calling them should be your first step. No internet should be 5000+ that is just unmanageable.

I have a feeling you are outta alignment.

This discussion is awesome on a whole out of this world level of nerding.

Pun-intended.

I used to use hughesnet in northern California.

I could play but it was a little laggy. I had around 1000ms ping. Not good enough for FPS but EQ ran ok.
