I have max intelligence, but my dexterity is around 100. I am just curious if tailoring will check both stats for skillups or the best of either. Thanks in advance. =)

Whichever is higher.

Tailoring does not check Dexterity.

Poison Making and Fletching do.
Smithing checks Strength

All of them check WIS/INT, and uses the highest of the two(three).

Thanks guys for the responses. I have read two sites that say dexterity is an option for tailoring. p99 wiki and allakhazam. But I was pretty sure that it checks the highest like you said. I guess after 25 combines and not one skill increase doing Arctic Wyvern Hide Armors, it makes you wonder. Thanks again guys.

How high is your skill? After a certain point, skill-ups become much more rare.

Yeah, I think to a degree there is luck, variance, RNG but someone told me at 170 it should be about 1 in 20 attempts to skill up. Somehow, I did 20 combines (1 was successful) at 255 INT and got 4 skill ups.

Maybe it was super lucky but I don't think it's that insane to have decent skill ups 170+ when you're at capped int/wis/dex/whatever skill.

I've been stockpiling Excellent Sabertooth Tiger Hides as they pop up in EC for a while in anticipation of starting to tailor when I get enough to skill-up through them.

My 250 tailor buddy recommended 27 stacks of pelts. Wood Elf tailoring trivializes at 228. Wu's gets you to 158.

So he's recommending me 27 stacks of pelts for 70 skill-ups. That's 1 skill-up per ~7.7 combines.

Tailoring is brutal.

yeah and doing velious combines 158+ is super expensive.

Aaaaand the market has kinda gone to shit. Bunch more 250 tailors out there now. Great news if you're buying. Bad news if you're looking to max to make plat. You'll still make some, but it's definitely past the pinnacle of profitability.

Most other high level tailors will readily admit Otters and Holgresh type stuff typically gives more skill ups on average. Arctic Wyvern hide is completely brutal to try and skill up off of. It's not uncommon to go 40 combines between skill ups.

Using Arctic combines to raise tailoring is the real world equivalent to buying airplanes to have access to peanuts to eat.
