daybreak is releasing a PoP locked server.

Thats getting close to P99's demographic. yall really think daybreak will allow another major server if they blocked the discord release? discord is about as niche as it gets and they had a beef with it launching.

theres absolutely no hope for teams or anything else unless they really throw Rogean a bone.

daybreak is releasing a PoP locked server.

For reals?

oh SHIT:

Agnarr is a time-locked progression server that will start at the base game and eventually lock at Lost Dungeons of Norrath… permanently
We will refer to this server informally as "PoP-locked" even though it will eventually include Legacy of Ykesha and Lost Dungeons of Norrath
Expansions automatically unlock 12-weeks per expansion
Experience rates will be the same as Ragefire and Lockjaw
True Box server rules apply (one account per machine)
We will have a limited store that will start with lower-tier consumables (potions & buffs), appearances, and bags – and some mounts will unlock with Luclin, but marketplace offerings will not be too powerful for each expansion's era

Dang who would have thought Daybreak actually listening to its player base!

That server's gunna fucking rape the pop of p99.

Now all they need to do is a PvP server!

I don't think it will hurt p99 pop because all those additional expansions suck and a guy might as well be playing eq2 or wow at that point. Besides the nostalgia of "I remember when this came out" there's nothing good about the direction the game went after velious which is why these servers stop at velious.

If you just want "more content" then it's truly time to move on to a new game.

Also I wonder if daybreak has any of the old server side code to make ui and game legit and cool again during classic era. I'd kill for legit parchment paper mode that was good times.

But yeah id abandon ship hardcore for a rallos emulator. If they made PvP server with no item loot..the rest of the ruleset would be totally irrelevant and a guy would be better off playing here.

It hurts my feelings that red has been so neglected. It's exciting to see a guide doing stuff. I don't know how program picks them though. It blows my mind that we haven't got an honest John or whatever yet. I'd figure some old timer would be cruising around 1hr a night laying down justice at a sheriff's pace or something.

Love p99 just wish there was more I could do to help red thrive.

Great post.

My body is ready for item loot PvP. I will get mad and/or cry, but it will make me stronger.

crazy graphics, giant target rings, redesigned zones, replaced textures, hormone replacement trans potions and RMT mounts, naw man. Maybe if it locked at Velious or Classic.

realtalk tho EQClassic just updated for the first time in 2 years and their test server is up again, so if we wait another 8 years we may have another server.

PoP was a bluebie heaven. One of the best thought out raid content expansions. Not just that but the char advancement was awesome. Prob is it wont be classic or a true pop experiance. Like with the other classic or progression servers Daybreak has released there are very problems with major things. Like focus effects, target rings, and alot of other non classic content put into the game. Nothing like having a lvl 45 cleric with mana pres 3 =/. Not to mention p99 is free where as the special progression locked or any of the special servers cost a membership which alot of the trashcans that play onp99 cant afford

PoP was amazing. Unfortunately it will come with the other 10000 "features" they've added to the game most likely which ruin the game in my humble opinion.

Pop was poop for PVP

I did enjoy the focus effects added to earlier era items that added a fun element to caster twinks

but by then there wasn't a lot of good lower level pvp to be had anymore...so not good times.

Except the Daybreak servers are total fucking garbage.

Instanced content/zones, mercenaries, new zones (Freeport, etc) & models, portals, different UI, cash shop & aesthetic bullshit, newer gameplay mechanics, etc.

It's not even the same game, much less one that is directly in competition with the servers here that aim to recreate the classic experience.

That's why it's so important that we revert red 99 to full classic era status with proper classic replica rallos zek ruleset.

Can't wait for the fee account give away. I have like 6 blue fake forum accounts waiting to make new to red threads that I can use to scam an account.

Will be deleting the second I log in.

The point of hardcoding is to prevent people from grouping/guilding/buffing/healing players on opposing teams - not to restrict you at the account level from creating characters on different teams.

Blue 99 max level 60 mac all/all bis players would probably love going to luclin and beyond, but p99 isn't about that. You can enjoy that on a live server.

I get more classic every day. I used to be all about velious as end game eq and still am but seeing red99 I think pure classic is the peak of the game balance and fun wise.

But yeah I'm talking about the peak of good eq. You can find tons of interesting content literally in every other game. I'm talking about when the world as a whole was richest and I think it was during classic era when all the quests and items found in the vast majority of norraths zones were decent. When a minotaur axe was okay.

When the ssoy goes from being one of the best weapons in game to be done fodder you know thingd are messed up. Once kunark launches a guy is pretty much best off leveling there from 0 to 60 besides some miscellaneous vendor junk that might simply not be on kunark.

Yeah so I like classic.

And no way to really make teams any good with this game these devs and this pop . I don't think teams were ever good in eq.

Actually you guys that want more content may like shards of dalaya I haven't played there since like 10 years ago when I heard about p99 and the remotest possibility of r99 but it was a cool setup with interesting custom content. I'm not sure how messed up they are these days or what crazy nonsense expansion is going on but you might like it

The problem with all of the expansions is that they were just bolted on totally haphazardly to original game. I go to like the most important NPC in the main guild head quarters for my class and every single quest and piece of content he has for me is for meaningless junk that is totally irrelevant due to whatever era I am in outside of classic.

As a result the later game just makes the main part of the game feel more and more empty since it is more and more irrelevant. All the NPC's are just there for no reason doing nothing. All the trade skills are just there for no reason only occasionally torturing people for some questions that requires a component.

The game needed to be filled in and grown but instead they threw a new continent on the old game and left all the old content for dead.

This is because they began to focus on retaining all the psychos who made it to level 50 and then 60

And that same focus on end game nonsense is what keeps red 99 crappy.

Level 1-59 is where the game is and the fun must be had. Level 60 is where the game ends. There is no stopping that. By ignoring the main part of the game you keep anyone from wanting to play.

If all there is to do is rush to 60 and then hope you start getting good loot from dkp in some corrupt guild or another, you're just not going to log on.

So yeah best server would be classic game content with eventual custom content to fill in all the cracks and make the world a little more alive.
