Looking for some ideas or something that perhaps I'm just not thinking of for downtime (getting back my mana) after running a quad or two.
I just hit 34 and am starting to do my quad'ing and it seems such a long time to get the mana bar back to full to run the next set. Outside of pleading with any local enchanters in the zone for a Clarity is there any thing else that someone might suggest to speed this process up a bit?

Well you are a low lvl just beginning quadding so your mana pool aint the biggest yet. Not sure what gears you got either. There's really no fast way to get mana back after a quad.
What you can do though, is bind where you hunt, and port to WC and look for druids/chanters to get POTG and/or a clarity. These buffs will boost your mana regen significantly. They help.
Don't be afraid to ask chanters or 60 lvl druids for such buffs. Just realize POTG takes a shit ton of mana, if you want POTG and it's from a stranger you might want to include a small tip just to show some appreciation.

Ty, Lhancelot for the advice. It's greatly appreciated.

Lumi staff is amazing to 51/52. If you go the quad route though, you're looking at 4-8 mobs per mana bar. Still great exp, just very bad for actively playing. But like if your house needs to get cleaned up... Dishes etc.

NP. I also can suggest something else. Join DaP. They always have lvl 60 druids who will ask the guild if they need a free POTG.
Not only do you get to have lively chat most of the time, but you get free buffs. And, the tag will help you if you decide you want to port for plats.

Having no mana is the perfect time to get drunk & skill Alcohol Tolerance.

Use that time to reroll a useful class

Most of the good answers have been given already.
My favorite answer is /gems :p
Secondly to that, I strongly encourage you to try the charm killing. My only addition would be to do that with a partner when you're able to.
Ideally a second charm killer. Preferably an Enchanter to haste the pets.
Forming a group of any size (even just a duo) negates the exp penalty of your pet doing more than 50% of the dmg to an NPC.
Bind @ exp area is also a great recommendation. As a shmuck who quad'ed a Wizard to 60 as his first main, I can tell you that bopping out to grab C2 refreshes dramatically increased my exp per hour when it was available. With C2 I was able to clear both suits camps in WL instead of 1 before repops. Not bad for a Wizardling.
