I've been delaying the purchase of Zumaik's animation because frankly I rarely use one and it seems like a waste of 4k.

That being said, is there much of a difference between the 49/55 pets?

The 55 pet is alright if you're trying to kill things way below your level. I use mine for stuff like xicotl, PS , etc.
But I would say that it is about as much of a waste of money as GoPT. Buy it if you have the Plat laying around but you won't hate yourself if you never get it. It's merely a solution when the situation does not warrant the effort that charming a pet would be

Don't use animations. You cannot back them off from breaking mez. You cannot tell them to attack. They have such narrow and niche usefulness that you should not buy this spell. Either wait until you see it drop or until someone puts it in your guild bank.

I'm well aware of the downsides of summoned animations. I was just curious if there was a meaningful bump in power over the 49 pet. There are times when there isn't a sufficient mob to charm and this could come in handy.

Animations are fine when you farm low level stuff where you can't get a higher level charm. A narrow case, but sometimes you wish you had the best.

55 has 800-1200 more hp than the 49, according to wiki

You're not a real chanter until you can c2 noobs.

Seems like a horrible waste of 4K. Why is it so expensive? It only hits 3-5 more than Kintaz. So it can kill green trash like 5% faster. Total waste of money.

It has roughly 1k more HP, and 2x swords (so dual wield de facto). level range from 42 to 48. Its a nice pet against tougher targets

No it's not. Do not buy this spell. Allure is 1000x better and costs a fraction of the price.

I am sorry samoht, but there are times when Zumaik's works well. For instance, I use this when farming Seafuries in OOT. I boon and VoG the zumaik's pet and it can go to town. This is better than charming because on that island you are always racing to nab the Cyclops as they pop; dealing with charm breaks is not ideal when you are trying to maximize your efficiency. A quick tash spell @ 1 second casting and no one will steal it from you. Of course you can't command the animation but if you are tagging 3-4 seafuries and each has hit you once with bedlam on, the pet just auto runs to the next target while you keep them rooted and dotted...

This is a niche example but I do agree that for the money, there are better spells/items you should get before you grab Zumaik's -- best to get from guildbank as a novelty...Even if you had to pay for it, make sure you have your core items first and a few tink bags to boot before you go and spend 4k on this spell. At 5.2k, a tink bag will be so much more rewarding than any efficiency of the 49 pet due to weight for your OT hammer and other crap you are carrying on your 80 Strength Enchanter.

Zumaik's is great. Would buy again.

This is a terrible example. Your time and mana would be better spent somewhere... anywhere... other than pet kiting in OoT using an animation.

Exactly.

Not the best example, but it does has some uses for less active farming than in HS south camping the fingerbone hoop or whatever high end item/camp you can throw at a chanter.

This.

Zumaiks has some handy uses. It's not make or break for any situation, and it's definitely not worth the plat if there are still other things you need.

I only ever use it to farm lower level stuff. Example: I'm low on adamantite bands. I head to Lguk hand room, cast pet, haste pet, slow mob, and sit and watch netflix while my pet chews through a few repop cycles there. Switch this out with frenzy camp in Lguk if you wanna farm FBSS for a while.

If you have the money, buy it. You'll use it from time to time, but never in serious leveling or farming. Charm pets are (obviously) much better.

Edit: Another example, when I was farming for GG ring. Get the two PHs locked down and just stand there tashing the spawns every 30s, it runs up, hits you, pet shreds it. Next.
