Just a quick question to more seasoned druids.

With the Druid charm animal line of spells (Befriend-Charm-Beguile-etc) is the only difference the level range at which you can Charm mobs?

For instance Befriend only works on creatures up to 24 (IIRC), charm up to 34, etc.

I'm just wondering if its beneficial to charm say a lvl 30 Rhino with Beguile or can I save some mana and use lower level Charm Animal to get the same result?

Yes.

It'll last longer? That's the benefit?

Or should I save mana and use lower level charm. plz don't write 'Yes'

Some of the higher level spells have a longer potential duration, but they all have a chance to break early at any time. If a mob can be charmed with a lower level spell that has a cheaper mana cost, I always use that spell.

I believe the duration of all of the charm spells is identical because they scale up based on level.

The lower level Charm spells usually cost less mana, and have lower cast time (Call of Karana vs Allure of the Wild is the only exception to this afaik).

Basically, if it will stick on a mob due to level always use the lower level spell. Unless you're 52+ then always use Call of Karana. 9s cast time on charm vs. 5s cast time is a huge difference. Plus they both have the same mana cost.
