Hello -

I have a fairly uber PC build. I have read several donze threads on here with suggestions. Unfortunately the one about performance from the FAQ thread will not load for me, so not sure if archived. I have set my FPS to 60 as suggested, which initially improved my performance.

Currently I still get hitching especially when I turn quickly. Additionally, I cannot get to 60FPS, it hovers around 39 40 still, and 20s when moving rapidly.

When I try and dig up information on which settings to have on/off, there have been a lot of different opinions. Most have not netted me any changes.

I play in windowed mode. 2550x1440. (note, when I changed this, it was still the same)

Here are my questions:

1. What kind of FPS should I realistically expect in this game? Best case scenario. Is 40 about right?

2. Is the hitching when turning quickly still a thing even with good performance?

3. What are some obvious things I should have turned off?

Thanks.

6700k skylake
1080 GTX
Windows 10

And honestly I am not. This is not a brand new build - have played BF4 etc... since launch on this build. Just looking for what I could possibly be doing wrong in P99 setup.

Got shadows on?

I do not. But just to make sure were talking about the same ones:

Display > Advanced > Shadows <-- Box is unchecked.

Would having Shadow Clip plane max matter, eventhough its off?

If you have a gsync monitor on and play games in windowed mode, it will screw over your fps. Not sure if it's a bug or what. Thankfully the solution is to change gsync to be fullscreen only in your settings.

I do not, its set at 60. I tried turning off Gsync on windowed mode, also did not help.

Thanks for all the help, ill keep trying other things.

Yeah, something is fishy. I have a significantly worse GPU than you (1060) and I get 90-100 FPS playing in 2560x1440p res with shadows on. Unless I'm in EC tunnel then I get 20-30. I have a gsync monitor as well.

wow - 100fps?

Would you mind SS'ing your settings ?

Also your .ini file? Trying to get to the bottom of this.

set max FPS to 50 or 60 FPS... otherwise you'll get stuck everywhere, strangely, FPS as lots of impact on this game, it's not limited to graphic. it might be hard/impossible to get out of water if FPS is set too high... strangely, there's some place (some doors in halas comes to mind) where you cannot cross if your FPS are too high.

I want to know the story of what happened to you that drove you to the point where you have to make this point to a complete stranger. Wow.

UPDATE: Fixed it!

Using EQPLlay nice, it was overriding. It has a setting to limit FPS in the Fore/Background in window mode. Bumped it up to 100, and got my frames corrected.

Thanks to all who tried to help, appreciate it.

Go to GeForce experience and turn off shadow play and turn it back on

Edit: nm looks like you fixed it, didn't read the last post. I have a similar issue with shadow play for some reason
