Greetings fellow 99'ers! <Auld Lang Syne> has a unique opportunity available to anyone thirsting to experience the challenge of classic Everquest "end game", and willing to do so completely from scratch. Our vision as a Guild is to recreate the classic experience as best we can. Our mission for this specific call to arms...is to slay dragons!

With a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the server leaders for making this happen (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266534), Auld Lang Syne has a 3-month window in which to plan, prepare, and recruit for uncontested challenges to the reign of Phinigel Autopos, Lady Vox, and Lord Nagafen, in that order and by the following schedule:

(https://wiki.project1999.com/Phinigel_Autropos) on the week of the 22th of may 2017
(https://wiki.project1999.com/Lady_Vox) on the week of the 19th of june 2017
(https://wiki.project1999.com/Nagafen) on the week of the 24th of july 2017

This is a formal invitation to join our mission, and to do so the hard way - as outlined in our original Recruitment Thread (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255352) and Charter (http://auldlangsyne.gamerlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11342575&gid=529720) - with a group of stalwart, like-minded adventurers. Anyone can start right now and have plenty of time to reach the level ranges needed for these engagements... all it will take is perseverance, camaraderie, and you. Will you join us?

(Thank you specifically to the leaders of Awakened, Aftermath, Fires of Heaven, Venerate, Omni, Europa, Anonymous, Rustle, and Azure Guard (so far) - you are truly honorable people. It will be a pleasure for our members to group with you and yours along our journey. Some of the finest friends we've made come from your guilds, so this is very special.)

I'm legitimately in love with this playstyle. Each upgrade you get feels great, you go out of your way to do other quests that normally everyone would avoid.

It's been a blast and the people are great.

Really looking forward to see this play out, hoping to see a stream!

Meanwhile I am asking myself is it time for a new alt? I know as much as I would love to do this I am too weak and will end up twinking.

I've found that with others in the same boat, so to speak, you'd be surprised how much you forget about twinking and power leveling.

Our latest guild raid was to the Perma-Frost. Those gobbers didn't stand a chance against us. You can see the gathering of our guild's forces on the first picture.

We split into two exp groups, a higher level one and a lower level one. Heroic fights and heroic deaths happened in both. On the second picture you can see what Nikbik complained about saying - Is this a train to you?

I would totally join, but seeing people obviously twinked out with ALS tags kinda ruins it for me.

Even in your screen shots above... Aintnothang - You think he did all the crafted armor quests for BP/Legs/gloves/bracer, killed othmir in cobalt scar for those arms and boots, killed the king in lguk for SBB ... all before level 40?

I don't.

I would wager every slot in his inventory is itemized. (Don't take that bet, you will lose, I inspected him at the WC rings a couple days ago. He's fully geared)

Is there no system in place to kick out people who are obviously twinking?
Did everyone in that that raid see this dude fully geared out and not say a word?
Even in those screen shots he sticks out like a sore thumb.

I'm mentioning aintno cause he happened to be in the screen shots above... i have seen several ALS twinks recently. (The full rubicite human in sola was pretty noticeable, for example.)

I really like the idea behind the guild, but is there no accountability for the rules/charter/playstyle?

Just a quick reply to Teak as this is not the forum for flames.

100% Aint isn't twinked. I helped him get 2 of the items for crafted.

The "twink" human you saw in rubicite was probably Delcross who has cultural smithing.

None of the crafted is hard to do, just time consuming. I don't find it hard to believe he did all of that.

On my ALS character I waste a LOT of time farming stupid stuff. Spent 4-5 hours just farming Sarnak Hatchlings for brains/tapestry for my necro hat.

Wow man, pretty sad assumptions you're making, and really no need to. Not one of these guys is twinked.. there's no point to twink and be in ALS. Both are established players/members, and if they wanted to twink, would just go back to their other toons or leave the guild like all the others that couldn't resist the pull of the tunnel.. what we've all figured out, is that we don't need to be chasing gear to enjoy this game and remain effective doing it.

Aintnothang here! The helmet is the Crested Helm from Mistmoore, not the SSB from Guk. I actually bought it from in guild and it fully fits within level restrictions placed upon it.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Crested_Helm

The arms are Cold Iron Vambraces from the Warrens. Highest level mob there is 25, I was 30 in this screenshot.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Cold_Iron_Vambraces

Boots are Blackened Alloy from Runnyeye.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Blackened_Alloy_Boots

As for the crafted pieces, the highest level mob I've had to kill was the Gypsie Musician in Mistmoore for the BP. Took a group to Najena to kill Trazdon for the pants. It was much harder to save plat for the gems than it was to get the drops.

I think I look pretty baller, glad to see you do too!

I would totally join, but seeing ...

Now this is the best proof that our playstyle is so different from everyone else's on the server, people find it hard to believe that we can accomplish these goals.

Ever heard of anyone who has smithy trained up to 140 on a level 10 character self funded? I know one badass player who did that and he is playing in our guild. He farmed stacks of bone chips and spider silks (sold them to vendor too, as there is no big cash market for these within the guild) and cracked staves of course and he spent all this money to be able to kit himself out in banded.

He could have used other guildees help in crafting, as that is perfectly within our rules, but no. He wanted to do it himself.

Some people in our guild are so hardcore, even our current ruleset is not enough for them. I came across guildees who, when I offered gear to them, said that they'd rather get it themselves. Even though that piece of gear what I offered for sale was completely legit based on our no-twink rules (meaning that the monster dropping it has no more than 6 levels on your character's level).

They just want to feel a sense of accomplishment in gearing their characters up from scratch, and our guild provides the perfect environment for that.

It feels like rolling a new character on a new server, and being one of the highest level of your class. Most of the originals have done something similar, if not the very same when they started out on p99 with no cash and no high level main to twink their characters.

What most people don't realize is how many of the top players (from all guilds) are trying out ALS and finding it really fun. If it keeps growing it will have more of these players than any other single guild on the server.

I'm not surprised at all. Very quickly people get sucked into the trading/farming aspects of the game as though those were intended to be the basis of it. Once you get reacquainted with the true nature of this beast it quickly reminds you of why it's fun in the first place.

It's an easy trap to fall into and having the support of other like minded individuals is important, which is what makes Auld Lang Syne so fun.

I have been reading these forums since 2010 and some things never change. People who seek conflict. I'll never understand it. Its a fun guild. In fact its the most fun I've had here in over 4 years. It's a game and should be fun, not a second job (or only job in some cases). If you doubt the players in the guild are following their own rules or you don't like the idea of this type of play style then simply ignore threads like this. Just move on. Nothing to see here except people enjoying themselves.

I used to be in ALS on one of my characters. I eventually abandoned that character due to equal parts frustration, and a desire for a "different" experience for my character.

I am considering giving this another chance on a different character altogether. My questions could also help for anyone else considering joining in the fun!

So, here are my question's for Auld-timers officers/senior members:

1. What are the top 5 classes that leadership can recommend that they really need? ( PLEASE, no "play what you want" answer, this falls under obvious at this point)

In addition,
2. What are the top 5 tradeskills that are most desired/needed by ALS at this moment. (Include a specific cultural trade if it is something under-represented at the moment)

gprater

I can tell you what we have (at least from my perspective)

We have:
enchanters (at least 4 active)
tanks (SK and warriors): havent seen too many paladins being played
druids( at least 2 active)
necros (at least 3 active)
I have seen 2 or 3 active shamans

Perhaps lacking would be:

I have seen only 2 active clerics
1 active bard
2 active monks
1 active wizard
1 active rogue
1 active mage
leader is ranger and I have a ranger alt but that is the only 2 I know of

maybe an officer can provide you with more detail.

Hello!

1. It is very hard to judge class composition at the moment as there are a lot of new players flowing in, and as most of them are new to P99 as well, they absolutely play what they want. If they don't like something, they roll another in a pinch. Not sure what kind of class composition this will boil down at mid or high levels.

What I can tell you is that we have a healthy population around level 30, some characters above level 40, and a lot of fun people to group with below 30. There was no day in the past week that I couldn't put a guild group together with several other groups going on in parallel.

Also, play what you like! It is far more likely for you to keep playing a class you like in the long term, than continuing to play a class what you chose because we didn't have it in the guild at the moment. I have made several groups on low and mid levels, and I can assure you group composition doesn't matter as much as people and player skill. Okay, okay, if you are pushing for a recommendation, roll a cleric, but don't say that I didn't warn you about choosing based on our current classes.

2. All tradeskills are desired! What we have at the moment are:
- Some people falling in love with a tradeskill and skilling it up for fun or roleplaying purposes. (I am looking at you miss shadow knight with 100 fletching!)
- Lot of us skill up blacksmithy as banded armor is awesome to have, especially with our rules. I can craft banded even on my necromancer to help others out in the guild, but we have some seriously well trained blacksmiths doing cultural smithy.
- Lot of us skill up tailoring although getting it up to high level is rare. I am not sure but Scaleway is either the highest or one of the highest with something around 170, I would have to check in game to be exact.
- We were lacking alchemy and potions for a while, not having enough shaman to do that tradeskill, but now I think two of our shaman are at the level where they can supply us with SOW pots (Yeey!)

First time we made two guild raids in one week, and the second one was to cleanse Befallen of the foul creatures who set up camp in there. We made two exp groups as usual, and with the higher level one we jumped down the well in kamikaze mode, and made a nice little camp, what you can see on the first picture.

Things heated up a little, and we were actually raiding a boss monster! Two groups were beating on Gynok Moltor when he finally spawned. He was no match for us of course (although I have heard a certain halfling warrior yelling something along the lines: "Help, help, he is killing meeee!") and we got his amazing loot!

I am having a great time now that I recently rejoined my Auldtimer friends! If you are like me and have far too many characters sitting around and don't see why starting off fresh on a level 1 makes any sense, then I'd like to show you this part of the guild charter:
10. Ideally a person interested in joining would create a new character from scratch, but they may already have a character of relatively low level that they would like to use to have entry into the guild. A character with equipment may be allowed with officer approval as long as that character is under level 20. Be aware that equipment obtained via EC tunnel or outside the characters ability to obtain naturally will be requested to be removed.

I did this recently, and I joined on a character that I had sitting around collecting dust, I had stripped him completely of all gear when I joined. Now just days later and I managed to fill just about every slot, camped my first two upgrade pieces of stat gear, and even camped items to sell within the guild economy (see the charter for details regarding this) with buyers already lined up! So just come on over and experience the extremely fun way we play this game!

Go to: Auld Lang Syne Guild Website (http://auldlangsyne.gamerlaunch.com) read through the Auld Lang Syne Official Guild Charter (http://auldlangsyne.gamerlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11342575&gid=529720) today and see what the buzz is all about. Feel a true sense of accomplishment similar to what it is like on a fresh server!

Hi everyone - We're pushing back our dates a bit, something i've PM'd the leaders/posters in our Phin/Vox/Nag Raid Discussion thread (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266534) about within the last 48 hours.

<Auld Lang Syne> has been growing rapidly, but as of today, I believe we are a bit short for our first scheduled attempt at Phinny, which as of right now, would be sometime next week. Without causing any confusion or further delay, we are pushing back our target weeks a bit, to the following revised (hopefully more realistic) schedule:

(https://wiki.project1999.com/Phinigel_Autropos) on the week of the 5th of June 2017 (3-week pushback)
(https://wiki.project1999.com/Lady_Vox) on the week of the 26th of june 2017 (1-week pushback)
(https://wiki.project1999.com/Nagafen) on the week of the 24th of july 2017 (unchanged as of now)

We've practiced a number of times in Kedge (back this Friday), but need a few more, and a bit more DPS. Anyone willing and driven enough, we still have time to get to 46! =D

To all currently (and hopefully more soon to be) supportive Guild Leaders and their members - thank you in advance understanding!

-Rainik

To clarify - lvl 46 would be for Vox/Naggy. 40+ for Phinny, but the higher the better for melees, as usual.

*BUMP* still waiting for someone - mods or original poster - to amend our thread about this under the Raid forums. I do not have the authority to post in there yet.

**UPDATE**

The date is set! We are tackling the last of the Kedge, Phinigel Autropos himself, on Wednesday June 7th! We will gather in Dagnor's Cauldron outside the zone to Unrest at 7pm EST and move once everyone has arrived. We will take our time and clear our way down to him methodically to avoid any unnecessary delays.

I would like this added to our Raid thread, but I have not been granted authority to do so yet.. working on it.

Since I am STILL unable to post in our Raid Discussion thread, and none of the mods I've PM'd have responded, i'll post our updated target schedule here:

(https://wiki.project1999.com/Lady_Vox) the week of the 26th of june 2017
(https://wiki.project1999.com/Nagafen) the week of the 24th of july 2017

I think I speak for my whole guild when I say we wish you would stay out ;-)

So everyone in this guild has this type of attitude? Good to know.

Hi there!

I really never understood his reply to the original response here. I'd like to clarify that as an officer of ALS I don't know who necro316 is and I am fairly certain he isn't in our guild, or, if he ever was, I don't think he is anymore. Seems to be a player on Red.

In ALS you will find an incredibly welcoming and friendly group of like minded people.

Today Auld Lang Syne accomplished one of its first major goal. We controlled Phinigel Autropos's room and, at 9pm central, he spawned with no adds as an issue! Phinny fell easily and only murdered one of our wizards! Our 20 man raid force handled him easily. Next up, Vox and Nagafen!

Tonight, Auld Lang Syne completed their first Classic Raid!
Our brave warriors, casters and healers swam to the depths of Kedge Keep, fought off countless Swirlspines and Patriarchs as they waited for Phinigel Autropos himself to answer show his face.

That he did...and ALS was ready for him. With very few casualties, the untwinked and seasoned members of ALS took down Phinigel in classic raid style!

Congratulations to my brothers and sisters in arms! We hope to see more of our members prepared for our first dragon in the weeks ahead.

So proud of this guild and all that have contributed to our success. We did it the classic way -- we had two FD pullers and split those pesky swirlspine seahorses and their Phinny's subsequent Guardians.. a shots of the gathering and crawl leading up to Phinny..

Rainik Stormseeker

1 more.. the 4th swirlspine (We had already split/pulled the first 2 swirlspines into the room with the clicky cube, and the 3rd was above).

We probably killed more than we needed, but didn't realize the guardians despawned so quickly.

I had a blast last night at the Phinny raid, and I am incredibly proud of being part of a guild that demonstrates you don't need to be twinked to be able to achieve great things in this game.

No we will not. Our leader Rainik had posted in this thread about a pushback on the dates. He would have updated the thread in Raid discussion but he has no access.

Addendum- Rainik had posted that we were pushing our Vox attempt back to NEXT week. Following that we decided internally to push it back until the week of 7/9-7/15 as we gather resists. I apologize we didn't make a greater effort to get the word out. To be honest we weren't sure people remembered so this is a hit reassuring.

^ Correct - our original Vox week was pushed back 1 week to 6/25-7/1 (in this thread). However, we will be pushing this back once more - to the week of 7/9-7/15.

Our revised schedule as follows:

(https://wiki.project1999.com/Phinigel_Autropos) the week of the 5th of June 2017 (Killed June 7th)
(https://wiki.project1999.com/Lady_Vox) the week of the 9th of July 2017
(https://wiki.project1999.com/Nagafen) the week of the 25th of july 2017

As Aintnothang stated, I do not have access to our raid thread posted by Detoxx (have requested from the mods multiple times, to no avail).

Look and see what we've done! We waged war in Bloody Kithicor and claimed victory against General V'Ghera and his soldiers! Not once...but twice in a row for two of our rogues! Unfortunately no Cazic Quill drops, so they still need the robes but we are well on our way to our first epics!!

Congrats Gnaryl and Jayya!!
