This is quite possibly one of the greatest RPGS ever made, dont agree with me?
just search for the game on ebay and see how much it costs used.
Its my number #1 and im wondering if anyone else is a fan of the series.

Own a copy, love it. Three was disappointing. I also have a copy of the first as well, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
In other games that have over 100 characters, Chrono Cross was a letdown.

I've done this before and it takes forever, and most of the time
you run into problems with either the EMU or the ROM.
And besides theres sentimental value with having a physical
CD and jewel case for collecting.

ePSXe and everything I've found on Romhustler.net worked just fine for me, no issues with either while playing anything, be it the Emu, or the iso.

Having a modded PSP has been extremely useful in playing almost any PS1 game that I have wanted to thus far.
Ill have to look into those Lunar games, I bought them ages ago for a normal price...

This is just my nostalgia talking, but if you check out the Lunar series, it's worth playing the Sega CD versions before the remakes for the Playstation.

I never played the Sega CD versions, or a Sega CD for that matter haha. I was more interested in checking out the insane prices they fetch, played the games long ago, and I guess it was just okay. They are probably just collecting dust with a lot of other things now.

A lot of people have said how great lunar story was so I picked it up. I play it for an hour before bed each night and I am about 12 hours in now......and I can't say I am all that impressed. It seems like a mediocre at best dungeon crawler with a boring story. Valkyrie profile 2 did it so much better.
I will see if I can find suidoken 2 though. I am always up for trying out "new" older games.

You're on crack.
Final Fantasy > The Legend of Zelda > Xenogears > Phantasy Star > Final Fantasy VII > All Other Console RPGs.
I don't even think Suikoden comes up in the top twenty for me.

Lunar is definitely pretty standard save the girl, save the world JRPG type stuff aimed at kids. It was above average for its time though within the genre of such games. L2:Eternal Blue the better of the two. Sort of a game you had to play while you were young to appreciate I think.
The Suikoden games were cool, if not a little overrated. The mixture of party-based stuff/large scale war/base building was pretty novel. I have to admit though, my favorite part of those games was when Mantis mentioned the Suikoken saved games on your memory card while fighting him in Metal Gear Solid 1 for the PS.
"Sooo, I see you like Suiiiikoden"
That was a cool boss fight and a cool gimmick.
It's nice to see those old JRPGs rising in price though, as I have basically all of them from the late 80s - late 90s era. :D

Yeah, Sukoden II had a limited print and was never reprinted due to poor reception at launch. There's so few of them, which is why it's so expensive. Basic supply and demand. Besides, a game's price has absolute zero to do with the merits of the game.

It was basically one of the first games to combine all of those elements into one. It had an RTS sort of quality, typical RPG elements, MASSIVE amounts of characters to choose from both secret and not, etc.

Suikoden I and II are two of the best games I've ever played, hands down.

Nah...You beat Chrono Trigger, and you're like...that's all?
Final Fantasy had a lot more depth - particularly 7 and 3 (US #'s). Also, FF for the Nintendo was a very revolutionary game.

Well, Chrono Trigger had 13 different endings, not to mention time travel and unique character combos, among other things. Most FF games were rather linear as far as I remember, though I do like FF6 and 7 also, 9 was ok too.

Suikoden 2 is one of the top 3 greatest RPGs ever. Suikoden 1 was awesome as well but its doesnt compare to 2. I wish I could get my hands on another copy. I bought a copy years ago for 70 bux my dick head fucking idiot brother traded it in to GAMESTOP for 18 bucks. I still have not forgiven him.
Oh and WHY the fuck is suikoden 1 and not 2 only on PSN?

Suikoden 1 - Played in MANY times, will continue to play it MANY more.
Suikoden 2 - Even better than 1, so I guess you understand what happens next.
Suikoden 3 - Almost a full change of the game, except for the 108 character deal, still enjoyable.
Suikoden 4 - This game was "one" of the worst of the series, after I 100% the game, I kept it on the memory card, and will not touch it again.
Suikoden Tactics - Ever play a hard "tactics" game? Well this is it, holy fucking shit is this one of the hardest I've ever played.
Suikoden 5 - Still in the process of playing, not much of a console player anymore, but it seems to be more of an extension of 3 (not the story, the gamestyle), but the story is a lot better.
Suikoden Tierkreis (DS version) - This one is hands down the WORST installment of the series. I still hold on to it, because it's a suikoden game regardless of how terrible it is.
oh I neglected to mention something...
I noticed that with these games, it's all in the same world/universe. So you'll catch glimpses, stories and flashbacks of characters from previous versions of the game. Not many games actually do this, they just recreate a whole game in another world (final fantasy). Don't get me wrong, I love those games too, but it's pretty damn awesome how they can incorporate these games into the same world.

I am really enjoying suikoden 2 so far. The combat/character system for me is fresh and unique so it's sitting pretty with both good combat and good story.
I really can't say I enjoy the TBS parts so far though. Perhaps if I get more options on things to do it will get better but I am not too hopeful.
edit------
yeah mass effect 2 is pretty boring. ME1 is great though.

How in the world do you like ME1 more than ME2? That's crazy.
I've been through this a bunch of times so here are the bullet points:
-ME1 had a main story and everything that happened revolved around it. ME2's was a bunch of unrelated short stories about nothing.
-It seemed as if the people who did write ME2 never even played the first. Character responses were inconsistent and unbelievable.
-Character leveling was destroyed. You max out the useful skills before you're even close to the end so it really lacks there.
-No looting new weapons and such
-mining....my god. They thought that would be better than going through loot? terrible.
-garrus isn't loyal to you....garrus and that crazy lady....jack?....are equal with loyalty.....are you kidding me?
-nobody seems to believe in the reapers, despite everything that happened...and the council will not assist your character even though you are the saviour of them and the galaxy....holy shit. really?
I could go on and on, but ME2 was worse in pretty much every way except the graphics. A few locations in ME2 had some really good atmosphere as well.

The worst one of all was at the end. I killed the final boss, and the ending cutscene had been going on for like 4mins so I put down the controller to relax/stretch while watching when out of nowhere this text flashes on the screen saying "press x in one second to not die". My god....what a disaster.

After playing through every Suikoden except for 5 (still working on it), I can assure you, that it is NOT hard to recruit all 108 members. I remember clearly in Suikoden 1 atleast, that if you didn't upgrade Pahn's weapon to ATLEAST 10, and him being atleast lvl 40 when you get him back, he will lose the duel and he dies. Those are the situations you need to watch out for, ones that come out of nowhere and give you a big "FUCK YOU".

The RE5 quick events were indeed pretty annoying, but not impossible. However, if anyone played umbrella chronicles for the wii. Those quick events were just ridiculously hard. I ended up returning the game just because it was saturated with these crappy events that a person had almost not chance passing the first time.
Then they switch the buttons or motions up on you.

I'm actually not much of a fan of Suikoden II -- if you want the full game experience, you've got to track down all of these characters. That might not be so bad, except that only a handful of characters are really worth giving a damn about. And I mean that in terms of emotional attachment to the characters, appreciation for their role in the story and their combat abilities (or lack thereof).
I played Suikoden I and thought it was okay. Suikoden II, however, just seemed like one giant awful grind. (To be as far as possible, however, I only tried playing Suikoden II right after finishing the first one.) I still have them both, and a whole slew of other console RPGs. I wonder what they're all going for these days...
