DAoC is actually fucking amazin' once you get into it. Endgame wise it's 60%PvP 20%PVE 20%CRAFT

Every class has an "epic" storyline that eventually over the progress of completing the quest line gives you a set of armor worthy of PvP/PvE to which you progress it further with raided/crafted items.

The whole concept that you need to raid 60 hours a week just to get a BiS toon is non-existent in the game. The biggest upgrades you can get on your character are from Crafted items and PvP upgrades ( upgrades like +5 str, or xtra class skills only earned thru PvP, think PvP trinkets from WoW etc ).

You could log in to DAoC and quest all the way to 50, engage in PvP, get geared, buy weapon upgrades etc, and never have to be tied down to guild for progression; of course if you want to experience the large scale PvP it's best done in guilds but even still you don't need to be tied down per say.

BUT if all you wanna do is log in and smoke a giant blunt and killed hill giants for 5 hrs straight it def isn't the game for you.

Well the one WoW server died because of Blizzard's lawyers. Courts and stuff u no. They brought said WoW server back up and I'm sure it has more pop than Uthgard even. Nost succeeds because they keep it as close to classic as possible and they care about their server. It is very well implemented.

Don't think anyone disagrees that servers drop off in pop but oddly enough Uth wiped and relaunched with more classic features and fixes... and has 10x the pop from the #'s it had before, which was my point.

Relaunching red with dark night times and item loot whenever people are done farming fear golems would be a good idea. It wouldn't kill the player base like we keep hearing management here insist. Fresh starts are fun, there's groups and PvP leveling up. In time here, maybe... but a rushed launch (listening to vztz crowd that it was fine, and listening to them and putting in YT aka send abusive tells notifications), letting people box (we thinks this guy is good for the server lolol) and exploit and stay on top killed this one.

when I joined everyone was masturbating each other over the fact that the pop was 15-20% that of blue's pop @ peak.

now it's sub 5% at peak.

that's a dead server.

i know it's gonna be hard for some of you to accept this but it's true.
there is no 2nd wave of blue players coming, there is no blue guild that is going to bring 30-50 players over to raid.
there is no recovery of the population on this server
the only thing that can possibly happen is a wipe to give blue players and new players and old players the start they want.

the dream is dead, it was fun while it lasted.
