Haste is always a crucial part of gearing up your monk and the progression from the 21% haste Flowing Black Silk Sash to say a 41% haste item is something most monks dream about!

That being said, if a monk was to slowly upgrade and trade up they'd end up rocking 21%, 22%, 24%, 27%, 31%, 34%, 36%, 40%, and ultimately 41%. Unfortunately those haste increases also come at a significant cost, sometimes 20k or so more for a seemingly minor increase. So what do these differences really mean? Does increasing haste by 1% mean a 1% increase in damage?

I think I'm doing this really wrong but trying to use Quickfist's DPS calculator I was trying to compare Haste DPS while keeping Epic MH and Stave of Shielding OH. My understanding is that using an RBB + Epic (71% haste) puts your MH at 9 damage with 9.35 delay, whereas a COF + Epic (76% haste) would put MH at 9 damage with 9.09 delay. When I put that information into Quickfist's DPS Calculator (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hjfitKSFcDgF11k2bK8Zs3zE1UR_XOZ1S3QwAgL33lk/edit?usp=sharing) it seems like with Epic MH and SOS OH that a solo monk would be doing 4.47 DPS with COF and 4.44 DPS with a RBB.

I think the formulas get funky if you don't use the actual delay (2h damage bonuses).

Also the end number isn't actual DPS, it can be used to compare with other weapon setups. Haste is ignored in this sheet.

Haste is a factor on your dps, so we can assume a change in haste causes a proportional change in dps.

141% haste is 1.16 times that of 121%, so a 16% increase in dps.

Using your example, rbb+epic does 97% as much damage cof+epic.

Isn't the delay calculated like this: (Weapon Delay)/1+(Haste%)=(New Delay)? So a Wu's Staff with 28 Delay and FBSS Hate would swing at 28/1.21=23.14? Then 100% haste would cut your delay in half?

The marginal cost to marginal benefit ratio of most EQ upgrades in classic EQ is very high. A small increase in stats for BiS item will cost big money, and may have no appreciable change in your game play. Small increases across the board add up, however.

If its important to you and you don't want to acquire raid gear be prepared to shell out mucho dinero to get upgrades.
