Choosing a Shaman Race (FashionQuest)

So I really want to play a shaman, but one thing I have noticed about all the races that can be one, is that they have TERRIBLE running animations. I actually like the look of Trolls and Ogres, but fuuuuuuck they run stupidly(same for stick up barb ass run and iksar waddle).

Want to know what you guys think the coolest looking Shaman race is. Maybe with end game armor one races animations look better or maybe the spell cast animation makes up for their derpy run animations.

Anyways just want to hear what you guys have to say because I'm getting nowhere and really want to play the class ;P

You eventually get bear form....although that run animation isn't necessarily better....

Which race do you like best when not running?

Personally I'd pick the race that best suits your playstyle (group, solo, root, tank, etc.) unless you really like one more than the others aesthetically.

Lol tbh all the races look pretty cool when they are not running.

I was leaning towards Ogre because the melee stats are nice and FS immunity.

Troll IMO has the worst running animation by far.

Now that I think about it Barbarian probably has the least goofy walk so leaning towards that.

Barb for fashion quest hands down. They look great in totemic armor.

I think ogres have a unique fashionquest element. A shrunken ogre with epic looks legit.

I think iksar are cool looking but the way they sit is a little goofy looking.

An Ogre with Shrink and Levitate is hilarious. You can shrink yourself twice to be absolute tiny in comparison to others. One of the primary reasons I like to group in dungeons :)

But a lot of Ogre armor looks pretty bad. Same with Troll. If you wear plate it isn't as bad but if you have to wear leather or chain (like with a Fungi) you get the "less is more" armor treatment. There are freaking holes in your armor. Also their naked model doesn't have boots so if you end up wearing cloth armor with coloring (like the Black Dire boots) you have colorized toes.

But Ogre is best from a gameplay standpoint IMO.

Personally think Iksar look the coolest in all situations except shrunken Ogre.

Shrink also lets you see through walls like gnome illusion.

I vote Barbarian male with the tattoo around one eye. That's the best fashionquestiest shaman in my opinion. It goes Barbarian -> Iksar -> Troll -> Ogre.

Then again my main is a "dorky" looking high elf so take my opinion with a hefty amount of salt. I happen to like how he looks, but I've been scolded for the choice. My erudite paladin is legit though. Fashion over stats!

My shaman is a barbarian female.
I believe that option looks the best.
I had the same issue as the original poster mentions.
I don't like the way the rest of the shaman playable races look or move or dealing with faction issues.
Also, I play a lot in 3rd person... And the fat races are too hard to see and target mobs that way.

you're going to see the sit/stand animation just as much as the running animation too by the way.
choose based on the bear form and custom helm/velious armor graphic you like IMHO. i think barbs get the coolest bear form and look best in velious armor.

if you're not picking based on fashionquest:
barb - JBB, barbarian spiritists hammer and good race is nice for leveling
ogre - fsi + JBB (great for soloing summoners)
troll - regen+ JBB + snare neck
iksar - regen + ac cap bonus

Ogre is probably the min/max choice for most people's over all gameplay. Race only matters at 60 for soloing, it will never make a difference raiding/grouping i promise.

If you don't have a regen BP or you're at gear levels where your fungi becomes a swap-in item (vindi/ss bp) then iksar/troll regen is actually pretty useful.

When male Barbarians run, their feet trip on each other. Once you notice it, you can't stop noticing. Completely ruined that race/gender as a choice for me personally.

When it comes to running animations, Trolls are hands down the best.

If you grind it out as a male barby you do get to be a polar bear.

On top of this, once you hit 60 and a pile of plat you will never run again with torp loaded! Self solving problem!

I had the same issues with races for a shaman. At about lvl 51 I really started to regret not choosing ogre.

Most don't like the Iksar 2h look but I for one didn't mind. Whe. Your 60 your not using 2h much anyhow with epic. Anyhow, I'm glad I chose Iksar because with less gear I still the soft AC cap and I benefit from regen bonus. I can kill any guards and not worry about faction since I'm hated everywhere.i don't have to worry about buying a JBB and I can focus on leveling and less on twinking. Shamans can solo with less fear it just takes longer without it. From 51-55 (spells start to get expensive) you should be able to save plat to start buying them. I'm in this situation now and don't have an issue not having an epic. Just helps me learn my class better.

The absolute winner is Barbarian. Your skyshrine armor is a cool blue, and if you really win, you get a group farm you this (http://wiki.project1999.com/Spirit_Talker%27s_Headdress). It shows up as the Polar Bear hat look that Barbarians get, but which you rarely see past low levels.

This means you are a tall and awesome looking race, in a White Polar Bear Hat, that transforms into a White Polar Bear.

Iksars look ugly and all their armors are earth shades. Ogres are ugly, their velious chain is terrible, and their Vindi Bp is that awful raggy plate look. Trolls are basically the same.

I always liked the barb shamans. I don't think anyone ever starts one on P99 because its in that out of the way location and you have to go back to Halas if you want spells.

There's a one shot halfling illusion troll shamans can use easily repeatable quest.

If you mean passing the mobs, I don't think that will work with shaman deities. Not Brell!

Iksar for certain. I chose that on live, then they butchered the poor fellow with Luclin. Sad, sad day for Everquest graphics. How could they think that was a good idea?!? I would play on live still to this day without the try hard graphic up dates. If it was old models. Old style graphics in new zones. Id be there. /mourn EQ

I log on still sometimes even with old models on, have you seen the armor and weapons? Wow. 3rd rate artists to be sure. disgusting in fact.
