Hello all : I was doing the Bard mail quest from Rivervale to Freeport ( no drop temp mail bag) and things got wonky , so I shut down and reloaded , and when I came back on - I still had the bag in my inventory and was still able to complete the quest ?

Temporary items will stay on your character for 30 minutes after you log off but are gone after that.
