Empty Server Select

Hello,

I've installed the Titanium Client per the instructions listed under the "Getting Started" section of the site. My internet connection is wired, and is not exhibiting packet loss or any other QoS degradation.

The last few days, I've had nothing but blank server select screens and decided to fire up Wireshark and see what was happening using a "udp.stream eq 5998" filter right on login.

Apparently, I AM getting the server select data from login.eqemulator.net:5998 - but it's not displaying in the GUI. Any ideas?

I admire you witeshark skills but this is simply a log in no screen log out log back in issue. After about 5-10 attempts and still nothing count to 10 try it. Try not to break your keyboard and click it slowly.

It's a common bug and their are no fixes.

It's possible that you are getting all the packets, but they aren't all coming in in the correct order. The login server doesn't respond when the client complains about packets being out of order, unlike the actual game servers. I made a post that goes into how to confirm that from a wireshark capture here (http://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2172511&postcount=8) (mainly in the later half of the post). Maybe you'll be the first person to actually find that useful...

If that turns out to be the case, I made a tool that sits between the client and the login server and buffers packets from the login server until they are in fact in order before sending them on to the client, as a workaround. That tool was mainly made to work around a linux issue, but it could theoretically help on windows as well, but I haven't actually heard a case where someone found it useful on windows. That's possible... I'm wondering if my ISP has some weird firewall/routing configs that are tossing frames around to places they shouldn't be going.

Found a solution to no servers showing up in "Server Select".

I have a wireless N600 Belkin router. After configuring port forwarding to 5998, and setting up a DMZ for my PC, I was still having issues getting the Titanium client to connect with a server list.

Systematically, I started going through every setting in my router to determine what could be the reason why directly connecting through the modem works, but a DMZ doesn't. Wireshark confirmed I was getting packets WITH server listings but they weren't being displayed in the game GUI.

Then I came across a setting in my router for a service called Intellistream - which is some sort of Quality of Service mechanism for prioritizing traffic within my router. Voice, video, games... all get tagged for priority.

Somehow, the Intellistream QoS process is corrupting UDP frames... They're coming in to the router, but something is happening to the data before it gets to the game client and likely, the game client is just choking on the corrupted data. Not sure if it's failing a CRC, or if the game client is dumping corrupted packets, but either way, the QoS service is the culprit.

Anyhow.. I would imagine that anyone that has a router with some sort of QoS service built into their router AND is having trouble with empty server lists, try disabling it. I'm not forwarding ports, I'm not in a DMZ, and I disabled Intellistream. Instant connections with server lists!
