Hello,
I'll be making a new chanter soon but I cant decide if its worth it to use a shield or a crude stein in off hand. Low hp and no healing can be a recipe for death. I'm thinking a shield at least for the first 20 levels or so may greatly cut down on number of deaths. Do lots of enchanters use a shield end game? Does it make a big difference? Ive got about 5k to put towards this character so I should be able to get good CHA still. Thanks for any suggestions.

I could be wrong, but unless you are talking about a shield stacked with a ton of HP, the AC alone isnt going to contribute that much to survivability whatsoever.

CHA is kinda what its all about as an enchanter.

Now if u want to rock a shield purely cause they tend to look cooler on castets than a doofy mug? Thats a perfectly respectable reason to do so!

Doesnt matter what you do on this server anymore. It only matters how you look when you do it!

He is right. If ur charm breaks and u are getting rocked a little AC isn't gonna save you more CHA will.

If you can get to 200 CHA without the stein rock a shield.

Crude Stein.
Keep a stun loaded.
Use pet guard to position your pet away from you while you're not engaged in combat. That way if it breaks it wont already be in your face punching you to pieces.

200 CHA + 59+ shaman = 255 cha
205 CHA + self buff = 255 cha
---
255 CHA buffed is your goal!!!

Make sure the mob is tashed and preferably malo'd. Give it -magic resist items.
The lower your charmed pet's magic resist is the better, generally.

Charm the lowest level creature that is capable of doing what you want to do with it.

Nice tips here.

I am just curious when 200+ cha is really helpful, as a lowbie obviously it's a lot harder to reach that level of charisma.

From 12-50, is 200+ charisma really needed for best results when charming?

I feel comfortable with 255 cha

anything less and my charms feel un reliable

you can reach this number with the 50 self cha buff and less than 10k worth of gear

I guess that's one way to do it.. I say grab the hardest hitter you can find, weapon/haste that shit and ride it till the wheels fall off. Balls out, make your groups rogue feel bad about themselves.

I may or may not have wiped groups with my pet before..
