Does anyone know the damage caps by level for archery, and how the damage is actually calculated?

Thanks!

not sure on caps per level but at lvl 50 on my ranger with 200 skill, a raincaller, and 200 str I average about 50 damage a hit and have seen crits up to 112
hope that helps some

I thought DEX adds to bow damage, not strength?

Pretty sure it's whichever is higher.

Pretty sure bow damage is just ran by dex.

Shiftin could also be correct as i cant say he isnt.

Bow dmg is Dex.

please correct me but on P99 haste of chanters gives faster delay on bows right now but not quivers. was this the case in classic respectively on eq-live at all? thought casted haste doesnt affect bow but quiver does

I've done over 200 damage, with 1 shot of an arrow using Class 2 Ceramic tipped arrow with a Runed oak bow on my lvl 50 warrior. It was a critical and i was low on hp.

with the scummiest arrows i hit basic dmg of 56 atm with 200 archery and raincaller. With the top arrows its around 78 dmg basic hit. Shardwing arrow was a bit higher. Not sure what top crit has been so far off the top of my head id guess around the 200's

My 16 Ranger hits for 23ish with fletching arrows, and crits for 50 regularly.

All haste effects bows just like melee. Quiver haste stacks with all other types of haste, for bows.. Meaning you can have worn + casted + bard/overhaste + quiver haste.

Btw that crit chance it says it adds, has been parsed to about .0025% crit per dex. So dont get your hopes up.

This is, at least, how it worked and works in live EQ. I cant say if that's how it works on P99.

However, quiver haste isn't implemented on this server yet from what I've been told.

Pretty sure it's whichever is higher.

I know this was posted a while ago, and there are many sources that say dex decides archery damage, but my own experiments suggest that Shiftin is correct.

I used to carry some dex equipment which I would switch to when I was bow kiting, at the expense of str. I decided to run an experiment to see if that was worth doing. I bow kited several mobs in DL, keeping track of number of hits, crits, average damage, and some other stuff, both with my str equipment and then with my dex equipment. Raising dex didn't seem to do anything. My regular dex and my max dex were below my str in both cases. So I concluded that it was my str that was deciding my archery damage and got rid of my dex equipment.

But maybe I'm missing something. Has anyone actually tried to determine this other than just reading some stuff? I'd like to know what actually contributes to archery damage. I suspect that the official guides say that dex helps archery damage because they had to say *something* about dex, and that it may be true if your dex is higher than your strength.

Strength affects damage output
Dexterity affects attack rating

Basically you'll hit more and closer to max with more DEX, but with more STR you have a higher damage cap.

177 str - 396 double dmg crit.
212 str - 426 double dmg crit.
255 str - 460 double dmg crit.

*Those values are close to accurate, I think.*

PS I shouldn't really say DEX directly affects your ATK. The number won't change, but you are more likely to hit for full damage with more DEX, as though you had a much higher ATK.

I actually wanted to broach something like this again after doing some tests with rogue throwing over the weekend. I swapped out gear a bunch and a 30-40 pt swing in strength had zero effect on my max damage with summoned throwing daggers. It stayed at 23 the whole time. Dex most certainly seemed to affect accuracy, but I couldn't test them discreetly as most of my dex gear also has some str on it.

I thought throwing had the same mechanics as archery. Am I wrong or should i be working on a bug report?
