Ok guys the time is here!

If you have been watching my stream ( https://www.twitch.tv/pro5pt0 ) you know at times I have been doing some random camps, and saving all the decent items I get for a big giveaway. Well that day has come!

As soon as I start my stream I will do random small giveaways about once every hour till the time comes.

The rolls will go like this ...

I will call out an item(s) and, also type the item name(s) in my stream. I will then say "ok pick a number between (xxx)." Then once everyone has picked a number I will random in game. Whoever picked a number thats closest to what I randomed wins!

Every item or package of items has a value of 1,000pp

Also, I would like to give a BIG thank you to the following people ...

Drumas: Donated 2 Black Sapphire Velium Necklaces.
Tilolian: Donated 1 pair of Golden Efreeti Boots.

I really hope the new players show up for this, because that is who I am focused on the most.

Anyway, I wish you all the best of luck and I hope to see you on the stream! Take care and god bless! :)

Is giving away in game items or plat for twitch follows allowed?

You guys seem harsh. People do this all the time and its not like he is doing anything bad. Noobies still get items and its not like they are forced to continue watching him.

Chill out.

False, there is potential financial compensation. Especially with no way to prove it's not rigged giveaways. As well as the fact that streamers need concurrent viewers to apply/be accepted for partnership. Giveaways like this help get their foot in the door. And getting partnered means you get paid real money.

There is a reason twitch has a whole set of rules that regulate giveaways. Legal measures can apply. Most streamers have no idea what they're agreeing to when they sign up.

Maybe OP isn't doing it for gains and just wants to be a good guy. But using twitch to do it isn't a selfless act of kindness.

People who stream Project1999 never get enough views to be partnered or w/e you are implying.

Yeah! How dare you reward the community for no real reason other than the kindness of your heart! You are a bad person, and you should feel bad!

You very obviously have absolutely no grasp of what it takes to actually earn money from Twitch.

It isn't just the twitch angle. Giveaways in general are a potential *** problem. I was just adding the twitch info in as bolstering information. And for the record I understand twitch better then you ever will. I've been on it since 09.

I've been on it since 09.

Seniority/brand loyalty plays no part in understanding the metrics behind stuff like this. To put things in perspective, Sirken could draw half of the server to his stream every Monday night for the rest of his life by doing Guise of the Deceiver raffles with the explicit intent of making money through a Twitch partnership, and he'd be lucky to see a single penny.

You can certainly accept donations. That's not RMT. If I make a thread to give away a hundred fungi tunics and then post a PayPal.me link at the end, that's completely legitimate. There's no prerequisite of payment. Would that be douchey? Absolutely. Is there any universe in which gaining Twitch followers from Project 1999 translates into income? Absolutely not.

It's totally shitty to post in someone's giveaway thread pointing out that it's "not entirely selfless" because he'll gain Twitch followers. If a best-selling author gives all of his book proceeds to charity, do you send him a letter saying how selfish it is because he's increasing his readership?

Baler
11-22-2016, 09:05 PM
looking back at my posts I want to apologize to Speedi. I shouldn't have taken it where I did. It was unfair to create false pretenses in his thread. My complaints had no business being forced upon him and his thread. Sorry dude

I hope the lucky winners could use those items you gave out to them for free. Also promoting p99 is always good. I hope you continue stream!

Kinda different though.

It would take a while to write a letter, send it to the book author, and chances are he'd never read it anyway.

The meta of twitch and followers of a stream is a bit different than readers of a book author and his proceeds going to charity.

I struggle to find a better way to explain it, but I just think this isn't quite as benign and goody goody as people make it seem.

Maybe I am just jaded and pessimistic, only seeing the possible bad elements of this but in the big picture it doesn't even matter, anyway.

I don't think the dude is getting rich off it, and I do think he does have good intentions and his acts are helpful to those that get things.

I just think he is using pixels to pander his twitch though and that kinda makes it taste bad.

I think its great especially on twitch. You never know how many people might run across his stream and then decide to check out the server.

That's a good point, any possible exposure to the server is a good thing.

Who the fuck watches Everquest on twitch?

Dozens of people.. dozens

I must be old but the appeal of twitch baffles me completely, why would anyone watch someone else play a game, even worse when they have a vanity cam and you see their pasty skin illuminated by gentle glow of their monitors.

One thing for next time as just a thought that maybe people should only be allowed to win once. That way more people win more stuff.

Otherwise very cool!

Let me get this straight, you went there purely to get free items, free pixels and you showed no support by NOT joining this dude's twitch?! How selfish and rude.

I am kidding, just kidding! You guy's need to lighten up, jeez!

One of the definitions of the word "jaded" by Mirriam-Webster Dictionary:

"Made dull, apathetic, or cynical by experience or by surfeit."

From my experience being guilded with Speedi, he's an ultra nice guy. I'm proud of him for just not bothering to respond to the hate.

Also proud of Baler for re-examining what he said earlier in the thread (assuming he was sincere in his last post).

Twitch sucks...I never donate or subscribe. Get a real job.

A job can be made out of anything where a supply can be sold for a demand with a price. There has been a demand for entertainment for a very, very long time.

Other than people streaming themselves playing videos games for fun (and sometimes for zero profit), it can actually be made into a very lucrative "business" (and not just through donations and subscription).

Just remember, everytime you watch an ad on a streamer's channel, they get a little bit richer. ;)

I remember one time a guy was giving away free things in the ec tunnel on Live, and people were all mobbed around him hoping to get something for free. I also was there hoping I would get something, and of course I got nothing. Once the guy had given everything away we all meandered away.

I felt sad and pathetic.

Not because I didn't win anything, but because I felt like I traded my dignity for the possibility of some ingame items.

Now that I am older, I never grovel or want free things from others, not even in games I play.

Don't you guys that go to a live stream with the only motivation being you might get free pixels feel at all a bit pathetic?

No one on P99 will become partnered with twitch. Mainly because its a private server. Secondly, doing giveaways entices people to watch your stream, and getting 30-50 viewers is nothing - its not like any of you are going to donate to a stream. So, he's just putting on a show that he isn't compensated for. If you think follows/views are compensation you're fucking stupid.

Concurrent viewers are what matters, and 300+ steadily at your normal streaming hours 3-5 days a week. No one will achieve that on p99, and as I stated above its against twitches ToS - you technically could have your twitch account banned. People like you are the ones jealous of twitch streamers because you can't afford hardware/decent internet and/or you have an ugly face or speech impediment.

I don't even play this game anymore, and all I ever see is self righteous pricks like you flooding the forums and taking your shit life out on other people. Honestly, no one gives a fuck anyway its the internet, but nearly all your posts are just shit. Pure fucking shit.
