Just curious what you guys think the best class for soloing an making plat is.

I know people say Shamans have the most potential when it comes to killing big targets, but that doesn't mean the are the best solo'ers if you're not loaded and have torpor.

That is the caveat with shamans, pound for pound the best at camping high plat items IF they have torpor.

Druid is a nice slow and steady stream of plat, like the way a gentleman secks a lady, from ports and power leveling.

I'd give my meaningless two cents about other classes but this is the priest forum.

perhaps he is a cleric looking for a plat making/farming alt he can play when he isn't doing CH rotations staring at a corner?

Enchanters lead the solo artists challenge, but soloing with an enchanter can get very dangerous very fast, so you need to perform really well in order to not die. Necro is less powerfull but much more relaxed. When things go bad there is always FD.

Mages are even more relaxed than necro (pet does everything), but you need to learn chain summoning at later levels. Shamans got mentioned already. They are great at higher levels, starting mediochre.

I think enchanter is the best.. personally I find farming sea furies on red is the way to go because you can make 10k a day watching a couple movies and pressing 1 every 40 seconds.. its the least amount of effort for a 100% pay off.. meaning if you farm for 4 hours, you will go away with 4 hours worth of plat..

If you farm a named for 14 hours you can still walk away with nothing, and even if you dont you still gotta sell it!

Enchanter is the bes though becuse, despite the easiness of a mage on the SF island cus you dont have to think about pet breaks, you can still charm the dino and do about the same DPS as an enchanter and if youre on red, beat every epic mage you fight against, or really anyone.

Also you can take that enchanter to say KC and farm a tstaff, or to the crypt to farm the crypt (which is a HUGE WASTE OF TIME TRUST ME I've left the crypt after 20+ hours of all 4 nameds and had about half as much plat than I would have if I was at the SF island.

But you can do this is all im saying with an enchanter, and not a mage for example.

Even the tstaff is tough with an epic mage while its easy as pie for an enchanter.

Now, if you got that epic mage and go to green zones to farm lower end items you're going to be a lot happiier than if you brought an enchanter, but lets say you want to go to velks and farm gems? Enchanter can do that solo easy!

What about shaman? Shamans are like brute mages that can fight giant creatures that enchanters cannot, so thats cool. I think its slightly easier to do crypt etc with the shaman cus there is less RNG to fuck it up for you, but the fights are longer and more tedious than if you were playing the enchanter.. and Tcrowns sell for nothing now anyway.

I think without a doubt enchanter is the money maker, shaman is the hunter. Shamans are for killing a named once and saying I DID IT! and putting their head on your wall. Encahnter is for killing that named many times and selling his treasures.

I am sorry but you totally forgot about SMEDY @ sea furies, noway you will farm 4 hours worth of plat :p

I have a mage and I'll say I wish I rolled necro.
My good RL friend rolled enchanter. I tried to play it one time and said nope. I don't get it.

When it comes to soloing, the difference between the enchanter and the necro is about the same as the difference between the necro and the mage. =)

Well, not quite, but you get the idea.

The top solo plat earners on the server are of the Enchanter and Shaman variety.

Without putting much thought into it, I would think it's pretty safe to say a Shaman can solo any of the common plat farms an Enchanter could, with the exception of the BM camp in Velk's. In contrast, a Shaman has an advantage with some of the PoM Card camps an Enchanter would struggle with.

Both are viable.

As others have mentioned, charm killing with a cloth class is generally faster kills and faster deaths when mistakes happen. Arguably, faster, "more efficient" farming.

The opposite side of that argument is that you'll die less with the Shaman. So CR/recovery time comes into play. This would be where the player's skill level factors into the "Which is better" equation.

Shaman is king of the root and rot. Clicky JBB dmg for no mana is nice. Torpor is just downright sexy.

I would put the Enchanter at the top of the list with a Shaman coming in at a close second. Both can be geared to almost any degree and still be efficient.

Last but not least, I would say Druids are lethal farmers where they are able to charm. For example, WW for farming velium hounds and ice burrowers.

Hope this helps.

Safest is shaman. Enchanter is solid but unless you know what you're doing it can get dicey. I recommend playing both because they're both awesome classes.

I vote Enchanter. Shaman typically loses to Enchanter as a plat-maker due to the enormous cost associated with the Shaman class. The Enchanter's much cheaper and hence starts making profit sooner. It'd take a Shaman a long time to catch up. Unless you plan to farm truly massive amounts of platinum--millions, probably--pick something besides the Shaman for that job unless you want to play the class anyhow.

I regard Necromancer as a tolerable alternative for folks who want a decent solo class that's cheap to gear and safe/convenient to play. There's something to be said for being able to do your solo farming in peace and go AFK entirely at will.

A problem with Shaman is they have no way to lull themselves to camp, and once there no way to safely split pull unless you get an FD ring...and then your charges are very limited.

What this means is if you want to camp something as a shaman, you need to break the camp...and keep it broken. And getting to the camp can be a long struggle in itself without lull. Tons of tedious root-rotting to move places. Which on P99, where most solo camps with big ticket items are frequently camped, means you just need to park your uber torpor shaman in strange places and wait your turn.

In Kunark, it was Enchanter with an incredibly large distance to shamans in second place.

Not sure what stuff sells for in Velious, but I would be very surprised if shaman edged out enchanters given enchanter superiority in Velks + Sirens vs shaman superiority in Kael.
