After a stint as an iksar monk in a trio group of friends (shaman and enchanter too) we have all decided to reroll to new classes. I am bound and determined to play a warrior (stuck between dwarf and ogre) this time around.
I would like to try my hand at playing a warrior for tanking and some dps. My friends are still choosing classes but will likely play a monk/shadowknight/rogue and a shaman/cleric/paladin. We sort of like the idea of the two knight classes and a warrior as a trio even if it doesn't seem very optimal :o
We each have some plat to spend on the new characters, so I'm here to ask what kind of gear I should be on the lookout for in EC. I have about 15-20k to spend without selling off my hard-earned monk's gear for extra spending dosh.
I was thinking the Crustacean armor set would be a good start, a FBSS + Silver chitin handwraps for plenty of haste, and some 5/55 rings. I've seen a lot of warriors walking around with a Staff of Battle which I think would go over well with the haste and is fairly cheap, but for 1 handed weps + the other slots I'm sort of at a loss.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Haste items won't stack, so save yourself some money and just go with the FBSS OR the SCHW.
The +hp rings are very helpful. Any weapon with close to or better than 1dam:2delay weapons are great for twinks. I prefer 1-hand before level 20, due to the damage cap. Jade mace 9/18 is a great weapon for wis casters and melee--Smoldering Brand is a great 9/22 all/all for any class.
Warrior/Knight/healer should be a fine trio to level up with. Shaman would work better than cleric, mostly for the haste, slow, and sow. To min/max, you'd probably have the knight tanking and the warrior in serk mode. Warriors do a lot of damage until higher levels (not really sure when their dps starts dropping off... level 40? 50?)
Good luck!

Don't be fooled, warriors are the top dps class in velious. It is just they are needed for tanking also.
Max your stamina. Crusty armor does a good job of this. Buy a 10 slot bag filled with wooly spider silk nets. Don't worry about procs, positioning and white damage mean way more. Don't forget to swap your shield in to interrupt spell casters. Warrioring at high end is all about weapon swaps mid battle. The better haste you can find the more aggro you'll have.
The warrior is weakest from around 30 until 50, and then it only gets better.

Thanks for the replies guys! I had no idea haste didn't stack but that does make a lot of sense :o Thanks for that! I'll probably go for the SCHW since they're cheaper and crusty gloves only give STR which I should have in excess. I'll fill out the other slots with whatever I can buy.
I think I will likely play an Ogre since we all want to be evil this time around. Do I need to swap in a shield if i have slam? Friends have decided on troll shadowknight and iksar shaman :D really looking forward to playing and experiencing the adventure/misery all over again

You need to train in bash at level 6 I think? After that, using slam will use your bash skill. You won't need a shield.
Your trio sounds pretty solid. You guys should have fun!
Also, I sent you a PM with some gear info. :)

Jarsath trident + GJB will last you a long time as far as 1h weapons go.
Both sell for ~100p ea in EC, and if you're lucky you might find people simply giving them away.
Those + crusty + haste will easily get you to 20+ in short order.

Mix AC, hp and STR. Plus stamina is pretty awful until well past lvl40. A Treeweave is 25ac and 10str. Chipped velium amulet is ac, str and hp. There are lots of items like that that are cheap to come by and they will help a lot to get you to 50.
Ridiculous amounts of max hp are only super useful with a cleric because of CH. STR does matter.
Besides, crustacean is butt ugly. Just say no.

My necessarily. With this trio, he'd likely be dps. Having higher max hp let's him stay berserk easier (less risk of dying).

Tree weave isn't exactly going to win Fashionquest either, is it? ;)
