Well, I've got my cleric, and I've got my necro... And that darned Necro gets encumbered faster than I can say "encumbered!" lol

He is still low level, but I can move him to EC Tunnel, np. What would be some good STR items for low level necromancers? I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

The cost of netted kelp is very high though.

Honestly if you just want raw strength, I suppose you could get gauntlets of potence they give 15str, or a thick banded belt both give 15 str. They would only give str, and not be very practical for anything other than that.

If you want useful caster items, loam belt gives 8str, loam choker gives 4str, steel wristband of strategy gives 7str and 7int, actually a few loam pieces give strength and are quite cheap.

Also, a way to inadvertently make yourself lighter is to get gear and a robe that is lighter weight.

As others suggest, weight reduction bags are useful, but they are expensive. If you want light weight bags, get shaman potion bags they are .4 in weight.

You can go to NK gypsy camp give the gypsy greater lightstones and she will give you 6 slot containers that hold giant items that only weigh .2!

I wear this for the HPs and it happens to have str on it as well.

Honestly I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice HP gear for STR gear. I will +1 the suggestion to use medicine bags if you aren't already doing so. If you are carrying regular backpacks then those are heavy just in themselves. Carrying 8 medicine bags vs 8 backpacks will save you about 20 in weight just in the bags alone.

yeah dude spend thousands of plat on +str items like gauntlets of potence and a thick banded belt instead of buying or farming yourself a weight reduction bag. you definitely won't look like a complete fool every time someone inspects you, and even dumber when you tell the people in your party why your necro is wearing raw +str gear.

why are people who suck at everquest trying to give advice on this forums?

I agree. I particularly like this gem of advice given by some genius.

use the bank

If you want to criticize advice given, read the entire post and don't take it out of context.

If you're an iksar, this is pretty decent (and looks cool too) for like 50p or so:

http://wiki.project1999.com/Helm_of_Rile

Cheap item, not a lot of great low-lev face items anyways:

http://wiki.project1999.com/Sarnak-Hide_Mask

If you're a ERU/HUM, cheap item:

http://wiki.project1999.com/Flayed_Skin_Boots

Cheaper item that has other good stats (free if you wanna quest them)

http://wiki.project1999.com/ShadowBound_Gloves

Not exactly a cheap item, but definitely should be on your list as a caster item that has decent STR:

http://wiki.project1999.com/Steel_Wristband_of_Strategy

Can be had for like 300p:

http://wiki.project1999.com/Loam_Encrusted_Sash

Not all that cheap, but at least it's not a wasted slot, since it's also got nice +int:

Dunno, tons of stuff to be honest, depending on your budget. Can always just go to the wiki and poke around:

Forum bans need to be double duration with each strike.

I use the level 1 spell Siphon Strength all the time on my necro, the extra 10 STR helps out.

Should have rolled a Magician. Can stack that STR gear all day since you don't need HP for Lich, don't need to balance HP/CHA/INT like a Chanter and don't need every ounce of mana you can squeeze in like a Wizard. Just run around with your pet killing mobs non-stop, being jacked as fuck, looting everything in sight, and lifting weights with the Freeport Militia on Thursday nights. Never worry about cover charges to the hottest clubs because you roll around with thousands of plat and gold at all times and are never encumbered. If your Mage doesn't have at least 150 STR unbuffed you're newbin hard.

Actually... I lift weights with the freeport militia Mon, Wed & Fri mornings. I out-eat halflings for sunday brunch. I head to Cabilis on Wednesdays to convert Iksars to Christianity, with a very high success rate. Oh, and the Dwarves are wondering how I get such high alcohol content in my Dwarven Stupor Beer, cuz it slobberknocker's them.

Super grateful to Kowalski, Lhancelot, Kawhi, and Tuurin.

Yeah, I siphon strength constantly. Doesn't help much when you're 160/60 LOL

I'll work on my Weight Reduction bags, and I'll work on some decent gear, too. Thank you all! And I'm still open to any helpful suggestions!

I just wanted to clarify that despite the tone this was not a troll post. I discovered by accident along the way that you really can gear a Mage hugely for strength while losing essentially nothing in effectiveness (because you really benefit almost nothing from stacking HP or mana, and can take advantage of the fortuitous abundance of easily obtainable +STR/+INT gear). STR has enormous, noticeable returns if you're farming and regularly getting encumbered. It's a legitimately good stat to stack as much of as you reasonably can on any character. And it just so happens that the Mage, being the least gear dependent class in the game, has a lot of room to stack STR. That's how my Mage ended up like this: http://wiki.project1999.com/Magelo_Blue:Quanzel

*Runs around at full SoW speed while carrying 1500 plat and 5600 gold*

Thanks you for clarifying that, Vexenu. I'm sorry if I came off angry, I didn't mean to - it's been a tough go the last week... I guess I never knew that about Magicians, and I'm grateful to be informed!

I wanted to give a quick update here... Thanks to the really helpful input from most of the posters, I was able to re-evaluate that Necromancer a bit, and made some changes. They've helped a LOT!

Went for lighter bags, found a piece of gear on a vendor with AC, STR and INT, so grabbed it. Almost had a 2nd, but by the time I scraped the plat together it was gone. Now I'm back to xp and earning some plat, and we'll keep going from there! Can't wait to get some WR Bags....

Necro should worry about +INT so grab some Shralok Packs for extra weight...

I like to collect weight-reducing bags. Might be a fun pastime for a necromancer. Check out Bag of Sewn Evil Eye and Light Burlap Sack, among others.

Forager Bag is my favorite! I made a level 5 Ogre shaman mule to trigger the quest mob and I get a bag on every character.

Yup, definitely looking for +INT gear, +Mana gear. If it happens to have STR on it, that's just a short term bonus. I don't have much of anything for plat any more, so I'll be working on that again soon...

I just learned of the Shralock pack yesterday, actually. I hunted the bag of evil eye on my old server years ago, as well as the pack from Najena, and another one, too. There's a lot of this stuff I just forgot after 14 years, you know?

Thank you again!

Head to Kithicor and farm some Shralok Packs. Placeholder is a giant spider level 7-9 and Recfec Shralok is a level 11 shaman that always drops the pack. Spawn % at this location seems much higher than the one in Highpass and is lower level.

JUst watch out for Kith during the night because that is when all the fun starts...

Oh yeah, Kith at night. I'm well aware of it from when I got my Rogue's epic back 15 years ago. I ran it at night several times now with the necro, and ran straight through during the day about 4 times now, too. All of those runs without SoW! lol

If you stay right at the placeholder no undead roam there. There is one that comes close just west of the spawn but that's it.
