Hey guys.
I have a question for you folks.
Every couple of minutes it seems that my game will hang for 1/2 a second....barely noticable. Until you turn to sharp and fall out of tree city and to your death.
I have reviewed some of the posts here. So i guess im asking....does this happen to any one else? Is it just normal for the game to hitch ocassionally?
I have a decently beefy comp. With a beefy fx card 16 gig ram......lol i said beefy.
Is there something i can do to make my comp the uber eq machinr?
I use wineq2 to run the game. Any secret setting im missing. Is there something in game options or wineq2 options that would help.
Thanks for the help guys.
Appreciate what you do.

Definitely abnormal behavior.
Bloated/corrupted log files can often cause this - go into your EverQuest\Logs folder and delete or move your logs out so that it generates a fresh file the next time you enter the game.
If that's not the problem, then it might just be some setting that disagrees with your graphics card - I'd just try messing around with graphics settings in game at that point. Make sure Max Frames Per Second is set to 100 and try enabling/disabling Level of Detail in Options. Also go into the Advanced menu and try enabling/disabling Advanced Lighting, and try messing with the Actor Clip Plane & Shadows sliders and the vertex & pixel shader settings.

Try excluding the EQ folder from Windows Defender. Has been known to conflict with logging causing performance issues.

It was shadows..... or clip plane. So...when it comes to playing, gotta have that clip plane...so shadows are gone. Havent had any issues. The Shadows are cool to have. It helped out a little bit with the realism. they were goofy sometimes but it's definitely not worth the hitching and occasional stuttering.
Gotta be fresh

Try limiting your FPS in the ingame options menu to your monitor's max refresh rate as well (usually 60)

Yeah, the shadows engine is terribad - lowers FPS even on today's top-end systems.
