couple of my monk friends from classic feel this way too. to this day they won't play an iksar. I guess if you got saddled with a human monk because you were silly enough to start playing in 1999 instead of mid 2000 you might be holding a grudge.

Play what you enjoy. Min-maxing is important for some people (and yes it can make the game easier in some respects), but the most important thing are levels.

If you roll a toon you don't like, then your likelihood to hit level 60 significantly decreases.. and at level 60, your race/racial passives are much less important.

If you wanna be a big polar bear, play Barb Shaman. If you wanna have a glorious mullet, play Dark Elf.

tl;dr: Having a character you enjoy playing is infinitely more important than a racial passive on a character you don't play.

Even though I started in kunark, I never liked the kunark+ stuff as much as I liked the 'old' old world. Iksars are one of the better bits, but they do skew the balance a little.

Yeah. Hate the male animation when running never can get used to it. Made female iksar, and it's fine. Runs like a humanoid should run, not like some tippy-toed bouncing baboon. I HATE how the males look when they run! Oh, and their combat animations too, my god... Anyway, female iksar animations are tolerable, for me anyway. :p

I'm a huge fan of them, but I enjoy the lore behind them. They went from being slaves to becoming an empire so powerful that it even threatened the dragons. Their research was stellar, even using powerful magic to create new races (sokokar, sarnaks).

While they're a shadow of their former selves these days, there's a reason the mainlands despise / fear them, and with good reason. Should they ever rise up again, the world would be in serious trouble.

Used to be my favorite creature of any game. Everything about them are well made except for some graph glitches in melee comba(can be fixed thnx to great p99 folks). I play halflings now tho
