Hoping anyone on the United States east coast remains safe during this hurricane!
I'm in Orlando, Florida myself and am expecting to see winds around 100mph here within the next few hours. Take cover, stay safe, GOOD LUCK!

You should move 150 miles inland.
I made the mistake of ignoring mandatory evacuations on Long Island when Hurricane Sandy hit. It wasn't even a category 1 storm when it hit but with the combination of the unprecedented storm surge that came with that storm + the high moon tides made for some seriously scary flooding.
My neighbors were being rescued by boat from their 2nd floor windows/roofs less than 100 feet away. My house being on a slight hill saved us, the water receded before it hit my backdoor/basement windows.

What category is it now? I'm from Wilmington, NC, but just came to Oklahoma City literally a month ago. I still sit on the screen porch and drink beer up to Category 3. Category 4 or higher I'll skip town. But it's been a looooooong time since anything bigger than a 3.

So, these things like start at sea and stuff right? Think we can be reasonably confident that they aren't full of debris and shit at that point? I want someone to GoPro a wingsuit in one of these before they reach land. If thought of this I know someone is out there already working to make it happen. Can't wait :3

I was working at a hotel in Orlando as a contractor, and while I was eating lunch in the cafe I heard the head butcher for the whole place say "TRUMPS GONNA BUILD A FUCKIN' WALL IN THE OCEAN! HE AINT GONNA LET ANYONE IN!" I exhaled sharply out my nose and shook my head. This was about 6 months ago. Good times.

Luckily I'm in a house that is block built from the 50's, and has withstood every hurricane thrown at it since then. Only problem are the massive Oak trees in my back and front yard. Hoping they hold up.

Lordy you're ignorant, willfully ignorant, or just terrible at trying to derail through not even amateur trolling.
Be safe all of you in the path. Gotta respect the storms.

I moved to Ormond by the Sea in 2004. Was not expecting to see 1 hurricane let alone 4. I dont live on the beach anymore, but close enough. I hope this thing keeps a bit of distance. I like electricity... a lot.

hey well, with the sudden rise in islands flipping over (https://youtu.be/cesSRfXqS1Q) lately due to over population, and no doubt the sheer weight of this storm possibly flipping America over and into the sea (yeah, thanks Trump & Putin...), cant we just right now nuke it from orbit (https://youtu.be/lboE1zZP2BM) and wipe that hurricane out before it's too late?

Thangs a monster. Glad I don't get those here, very rare. Just have the typical 4 seasons here: flood, fire, earthquake and riot season.

I am happy to hear this. When stuff like this is on the news in Japan, everyone is always left scratching their heads wondering wtf, don't they build better buildings. Obviously no earthquake concern there on the East coast, but hurricanes are no different from typhoons and you don't generally see roofs getting pulled off of Buildings in Japan ^^

Yard is full of little branches and stuff. Haven't surveyed everything but I haven't seen any trees near the house down. I did hear trucks beeping when the power was out down by the road, so that might indicate one fell out there.

Sounds standard. Good to hear nothing catastrophic.
