If not I'll try to work on that quest soon. Would be cool to get a couple people working on this to get it done faster.

Would need burning woods open for that :/ If I'm not mistaken.

Doh, I thought that was one of the recent opened zones. My bad!

There are plenty of other quests to try in the meantime though.

bump.
Did anyone try this in beta? Didn't hear anything about Sir Hobble.
Only been able to find 1 named wurm. Hard to track as a monk!

I saw a guy with one during the mandatory beta. I don't remember his name though.

Yah I did it as soon as Gullerback / Azdalin spawn was fixed.
This is anecdotal, but I think the turn in may be a bit more difficult than it was on live because there is more mob traffic than there was in FV there. I don't think that's a bad thing as more mobs are good and how can one get stuff like that perfect, however, Sir Hobble does not live very long after he spawns, at all. This is why it took me so long to find him even though I had a ranger to track.
Soon as he spawns he has 2-3 drolvargs on him pretty quickly, and he dies pretty much within a couple minutes. Even after i figured out exactly where he spawned it took me 3-4 spawns to do the turn in. Granted, I was trying to keep him alive with a ~40 ranger being healed by a 50 sham, but I don't remember it being so difficult to keep him alive back in the days. More boring than anything if I recall correctly. In the end I finished the hand in by just keeping him alive long enough to spawn Fuzmin and then intercepting Fuzz after Hobble died.
The wurmslayer I had is still 1 hand slashing and only mainhand usable. The original was piercing / either hand. I know Rogean was talking about changing it, maybe he did and it just wasn't changed retroactively. Was thinking of trying the quest again now that ranger is 50 to see if its more reasonable keeping Hobble alive with a couple 50+.

Cool, thanks for the report. The difficulty sounds accurate, really. From research, it sounded like the most difficult part was keeping them alive till they finished their route, and that Fuzzmin wouldn't stop if hailed.
As far as the wurmslayer.. it was originally a 2handed piercer I thought, and GIANT item. Can anyone find a screenshot for me?

Originally this was a 1h piercer but was quickly nerfed because of the backstab damage. It was changed to 1hs, primary only. Discussion on alla confirms my memory of it here (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=355).

Research confirms. Apparently it was larger than GIANT as well, just wouldn't fit in bags.

The Wurmslayer is now a one-handed slashing weapon.

The Wurmslayer will now fit in a bag.

it was definitely dual wieldable at launch until later nerfed to primary only.

Yeah it didn't fit into bags, I remember that.
I used mine as a secondary with a Jarsath Trident. By the time they nerfed the offhand use I believe I had other weapons so I don't remember when that was exactly.

I went under quests for Firiona Vie and just tabbed the dates till "Dragon Scales" is updated with the Wurmslayer.
So thats the pre nerfed one. At least you have the date that it was nerfed to tell you how long it was in from Kunark Open to Nerf bat time!

Ranger named Covergent on beta was using a Wurmslayer. Dunno his forum name, though.

k so Wurmslayer will be..
-dual wieldable
-non lore
-range slottable
-larger than giant item
When paladins were using this item in Kunark as a piercing weapon, how was their skill determined?
EQ later added piercing as a paladin skill in Velious era, I believe it was.
I remember I owned one.. but I do not remember if a piercing skill ever increased, or if it used 1hs, yet displayed piercing.

Lord Lyfyx from solro temple did not drop scale after killing him. (One way)
Tektite does not give Tektite-gem for scale quest in Solro temple after handing him two carn gems. (Another way)
Only option left is to kill tektite, which I haven't done. (last way)

Tektite gave me the Tektite for carnelians when I did it. Would try again and try to figure out if you handed in wrong somehow. Dunno why it would have been changed, seems one should still be able to get it from him.
Nobody tested the first method, so seems that needs to be fixed.

I tried both 2x carns and one at a time. He simply isn't returning the favor for the gem.

Apparently you need to be indifferent faction for it to work. Gotcha.

nothing huge but according to the following posts "apprehensive" faction should be enough to get the tektite. currently on p99 it isn't.
I gave Tektite two carnelians, in separate slots, of course. I was apprehensive to him.

The way to get the scale is documented elsewhere - in short, a human Innoruuk warrior was apprehensive in the outpost and turned in two carnelians to Tektite the gargoyle (appears by the main gate inside the outpost) and recieved a Tektite in return.
source (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=411#m104920725666200)
Anyone who cons apprehensive or above can do the turn in
source (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=411#m105180094761700)
just get an evil player to with at least apprehensive faction to the outpost in the overthere to give the carnelians to the gargoyle.

and so on...
