View Full Version : Data Transfer from a Dead Laptop's Hardrive

I recently got drunk and ruined a laptop by spilling water. The water only got in a very isolated section of the comp.

I've removed the harddrive and believe it was not affected by the water. A nearby pc service store quoted me $49 for data transfer to my own external hardrive. Pretty expensive imo, since all they will be doing is plugging in the hard drive, the external, and pasting over the info.

My question is this: with a laptop hard drive, what hardware is required for me to do this myself? Currently I am in a bad situation wherein I don't have an operating desktop PC, and am limited to another laptop altogether.

Is there some easy way to do this where I could connect the Hardrive through an auxiliary port to my current laptop?

Sorry for not EQ related, but help would be appreciated.

USB to sata adapter is the easiest way, assuming you don't have a desktop, and a way to connect the drive to your desktop.
