Always grosses me out when I read facts about food production: millions of pounds of cheese in cold storage millions of tons of beef processed annually, etc. Think about that last one. I'm not a vegetarian, but fuck, that's a lot of cows. I suppose part of the unsettling number is when I look at the aggregate figure, I tend to imagine it as one thing all in one place like some fucking Kilimanjaro of bloody carcasses.

I do like cheese though ^^ and beef...

For me it's the worst thing in the world. Not necessarily the insane slaughter itself but the combination of that with the fact that it's so widespread, so vile (in a lot of cases), illegal but tolerated, immoral but legal, so unnecessary and so strongly defended and rationalized. Those last two are key for making it the worst thing in the world for me. There isn't a single issue in the world that includes such a high degree of suffering and such a large degree of suffering that has more people defending it than attacking it. You're abnormal for abstaining from a holocaust and often treated 'accordingly'. It's sick.
