View Full Version : A Question About Family Play from the Same IP

Hello.

I installed P99 several months ago but haven't played since, having got caught up in real life responsibilities. Now that I have more time on my hands again I'm thinking about giving it another whirl.

My wife and I both played from about 2000 to 2006 on Live. Fast forward and we now have four kids of appropriate age to play as well.

I understand that we'd have to petition to be allowed to have accounts for each of us to play together from the same IP. We have no interest in boxing, and that (along with P99 being Classic pre-Luclin EQ) is the reason we would like to play here rather than on any of the other emulator servers (everyone on those servers box entire parties it seems, bleh!).

My wife and I were talking about it, and we were wondering if we would need to divulge personal information so that we could all play together. We are very strict about the internet when it comes to divulging personal info, especially when it comes to our kids.

Would we need to provide personal info for each of us to authentic that we are not planning on boxing?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Good luck I've been waiting for over a month to get excempted, pretty much gave up on the idea of having my cousin play along side with me while in mean time trying to find his own place.

I filled out the form on the forums, and the only thing I had to list was my account name (in game) & my real life FIRST name & relation to the other people on the exemption.

I don't know, but I feel like I need to put up a HUGE DISCLAIMER, I don't want to anger the Gods. Y'all need to make an in game channel to kvetch about how long it's taking, or it's own thread, this was a question about what's required to obtain one, not a finger wagging contest, or how to get around the ban.

Is it illegal? This is a serious question! I haven't seen anything about using a VPN being illegal...

My friend is coming to visit in september, so you're telling me we can't play the game in the same fucking room?

Not unless you use your phone as a hotspot or use VPN.

I requested for an IP Exemption, is there any chance that they'll be able to oversee my request before september? or are me and my friend SOL?

I am always dubious of hearing "me and my friend" things.

I'm so glad this server has the IP exemption rule, we'd be seeing entire camps run by groups of the same player with 10 accounts.

Well there is good reason to be dubious. It's the internet I don't expect anyone to take my words as fact believe what you want. I stated my situation to the GM's so I'm content waiting for my petition request.

Try private messaging someone involved and tell them the date in September you need.

I figured I'd just wait it out, I mean if we can't end up playing when he visits we'll just hang like normal and find some game on steam to keep us occupied. It sucks but I'd rather keep the server Box free.

Yeah, the Earth and Beyond emulator is a horror story because of boxing. It's a ghost town, and the only active people are the one's with 10 accounts flying around.

There's no chance of player retention there because any new players that may join or become interested are in a game with nothing but boxing.

That sucks hardcore, me and my buddy are new to EQ so most of the fun we've been having is just being completely lost and not knowing what to do. It's such a relief not being rushed to max level. Being a longtime WoW baby it's a nice change of scenery if I can be frank. On the subject of boxing it literally goes against the main reason I play an MMORPG...to socialize and have a great time with people. If you want to play by yourself there are plenty of CRPG's out there lol, I digress.
