I started playing P99 on Friday and played til late Saturday night where I camped outside Kurn's Tower on my level 9 Shaman.
Get up on Sunday to log in and it says my account has been banned. No message, no idea why it was banned.
Can a mod/GM please let me know whats the deal here?

As mentioned, make a post in the petition section (and select the bans/suspensions tag).
As for possible reasons for the ban, the following are all bannable/suspendable offenses as far as I know:
*Real-money trading (a.k.a. RMT), or exchanging any form of currency outside of the game for platinum/items/etc in-game.
*Multi-boxing, or playing on more than one account simultaneously on the same server (one character on blue and one on red is fine, last I heard).
*Using 3rd-party programs etc that either automate gameplay or add additional functionality beyond what is possible by simply reading the log file (some log-reader programs have been allowed so far, but they're probably reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
*Not sure on the exact criteria, but I believe bad behavior can result in at least a temporary ban as well (griefing other players via repeatedly training or kill-stealing would probably at least get you suspended, for example).
In short, after posting your petition I would go read through the server rules again incase you missed something.

At that level it's going to be faster to reroll. Don't do the above mentioned banable offenses.

Yes, if you broke a rule leading to a ban you can make a new account and have no issues as long as you don't break the rules again on the new account. At level 9 I'd just reroll on a new account.

Pretty much this.

Getting to level 9 in EQ takes a lot longer than most games. I'm not really willing to invest a ton of hours into P99 if the GMs are just going to ban for no apparent reason. If they don't unban me, I can certainly free up some hard drive space.

Just submit a petition on the forums like people have suggested and find out what is going on. They are very reasonable, even when they may not have a good reason to be. If you are confident that there is nothing you've done that is a bannable offence I'm sure you'll get your account back - maybe in the mean time you can work on a second character on a new account? The game can always use more Druids!

I was once banned for no reason. Posted in the forum and it was quickly resolved.

Same. I even made a similar post as you about it, but it quickly got resolved once they looked into it.
If you really didn't do anything against the rules they'll fix it for you.

Right. Wrongful bans happen for various reasons.
There are several guides who have the capability to ban accounts. It sucks but mistakes happen.

Accidental bans do happen. Several of my friends and myself have had accounts banned by their automated system for no apparent reason. We petitioned and once they investigated our accounts and found we did nothing wrong they were promptly unbanned and apologies were given. This is the price we pay for a server that has active rules against RMT, dual boxing, and hacking and unlike Sony/Verant actually enforces them. To me this is the greatest benefit to playing on p99 and has kept me playing here.

Right. People should be appreciative-- to have a project so legitimate.
Every project has its flaws, but on the spectrum this server has been one of the longest running most successful and legitimate emulation projects in MMO history of all time..
Period.

I was once banned for a reason and then realized I was a colossal douche and apologized, manned up, admitted my flaws and asked privately politely for an unban.
And here I am. Petition forums do work.

Did you try and log in and it say your account was banned or did it say you had a IP ban? If it was the latter was someone in your house or someone on your internet also playing P99?

I've been banned on three occasions, all incorrectly and reversed. Unfortunately each one took several days to be resolved. So before the P99 fanbois flood the thread about how if you're banned it's because you did something wrong, just know that tons of accidental bans happen here. You won't receive an apology either, just a closed thread stating resolved.

On red we had a guy get banned because someone made their banker alt which stolen items were on a name close to the innocent guys character name. It took if I recall months to be reversed.
I was banned on one occasion because someone made a petition saying I was a huge RMT mogul on a banned site, without any evidence, just that claim.

Cool. I made a post on the Mod forum last night. Waiting to see what happens. Thanks for the input guys.

If they really don't like you they just ignore you and are hoping you go away.
Or their hands are tied.
Either way u no.
