Just for fun, I checked out these server stats on Friday night three times using /who all count. Here is the averages:

948 Total
160 Level 60
259 Level 50-59
117 Level 40-49
89 Level 30-39
97 Level 20-29
114 Level 10-19
111 Level 1-9

59 Warriors
23 Paladins
41 Shadowknights

35 Rangers
85 Monks
52 Rogues
70 Bards

141 Druids
90 Shaman
72 Clerics

33 Wizards
43 Mages
95 Enchanters
94 Necros

So, in order of class popularity:

Druid, Enchanter, Necro, Shaman, Monk, Cleric, Bard, Warrior, Rogue, Magician, Ranger, Wizard, Paladin.

Draw your own conclusions.

Looks like a healthy balance if you ask me, only druids seem to be the flyer. Also you didn't mention what time you took the count, the later the night draws on the more people tend to move to solo characters.

I bet there's more clerics, enchanters, shamans though simply because they run /anon to avoid random tells for rezzes, buffs, etc. Druids deliberately run without anon particularly if they porting for plat.

Maybe. But you can see total numbers with "/ all count enchanter" and they're usually right about 8-10% of total players online.

I miss the p99 census page. Was it the hungry auction guy who did that?

There is def a shortage of wiz/pal on raids in venerate. Most raids we have about 35 people +\- 5 and we won't have any wiz/pal

Left out SK between mage and ranger.

I'm kinda shocked at the absurd amount of druids. Would be interesting to see the level distribution between them.

I'd say 34 to 44 is the majority of the Druids.

Hard to say though a lot of us are Anon for non porting reasons. Lvling questing running to someone etc etc

This is pretty interesting. Druid doesn't surprise me but I would have thought necromancer would have been a strong second.

They're in 3rd by like 1%...1/3 of those enc are probably afk in chardok

Yeah, that's what I meant by a strong second though - I didn't think enchanter would be even marginally close to necromancer.

You appear to have caught Druids on a good day. They're usually on top but not typically by that large a margin. I would expect Druids to be somewhat over-represented in the 35-55 bracket; I don't see a lot of them at 60. Enchanters are either gaining popularity or you caught them on a good day because historically they tended to occupy about 5th place after Necromancers and Monks. Bards are somewhat less common out and about than the list would suggest owing to their popularity as tunnel mules.

Overall the rankings haven't changed all that much since 2009, except in the case of Magicians continuing a gradual downward trend. Strong solo'ers remain on top while Wizards and Hybrids occupy the bottom slots. Tanks are the least popular general archtype, with two of the tank classes being unpopular and the third (Warrior) being only mid range. Priests fare well, consistently occupying two of the top four places and the third priest class (Cleric) typically being upper mid-range. Casters have two popular classes and two not-so-popular classes, but are seen less often than their numbers would suggest owing to their propensity for solo gameplay. Light melee classes are about where I'd expect them to be, with Monks unsurprisingly the most popular of the four on a server that stops with Velious.

I get a chuckle at folks who dismiss the Druid as "bad" when it has consistently been the most popular class for going on seven years now. It's very good at what it does, just what it does is best described as "all the little jobs people need to do outside normal grouping and raiding." Nobody ever went wrong having a Druid alt.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't realize I skipped SK's. The other thing I could do is subtract the level 1's in EC from the total, assuming they are traders instead of new characters. Not that people who trade all the time are not playing, but the balance of those 1-9 would be skewed by those who never plan to advance.

I did the same thing on Saturday night. Here is the averages:

982 Total
159 Level 60
243 Level 50-59
116 Level 40-49
107 Level 30-39
111 Level 20-29
125 Level 10-19
115 Level 1-9 (less an average 27 level 1's in EC)

55 Warriors
27 Paladins
52 ShadowKnights

41 Rangers
84 Monks
53 Rogues
74 Bards

135 Druids
88 Shaman
84 Clerics

36 Wizards
63 Mages
90 Enchanters
89 Necros

So, in order of class popularity, this time:

Druid, Enchanter, Necro, Shaman, Monk, Cleric, Bard, Magician, Warrior, Shadowknight, Rogue, Ranger, Wizard, Paladin.

Nice jump for the magicians.
