I am hoping someone would be able to help me get up and running again. As a disclaimer, I am not computer savy at all, and the computer is very old, the model is a HP pavilion media center m8120n, the video card is upgrade to a radeon x1650 pro.
I was running windows 7 but I let it upgrade to 10, it was working perfectly fine before the upgrade, then you can see in the attatched pictures that something is wrong, can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Thank you

You need to reinstall EQ looks like your files are broken.

Have you tried compatibility mode and messing with resolution in the eqclient.ini file?
WindowedWidth=1920
WindowedHeight=1080

Windows 10 is fine as long as you do a fresh reset of your computer once you upgrade to it. Did that reinstalled all my games and classic shell and cant even tell a difference between 7,8,10 other then some color scheme differences.

Windows 10 is the most stable Windows I have ever used (and I'm going back to Windows 2.0 here), I don't know why more people don't use it.

here's atleast 26 reasons not to, directly from Microsoft (and that's just the ones that are actually in our control...)

Where are these 26 reasons not to? All i see are lists of things you can change if you want that are different for windows 10. Idk about you but every version of windows i have had since 2k ive made adjustments to different settings and disabled/enabled things to achieve optimum performance.

Duly noted, but opinion entirely discarded. This is simply untrue.
This also is highly dependent upon when you shut off updates. Certain updates would nuke stability.

So i reinstalled p99 and i am still having the same problem.
I read some old posts on the fourm and I read about the VertexShaders, I changed this to 0, and now the game crashes at the character selection screen, the character models dont load its just black and then the game crashes.
If i change the VertexShaders back to TRUE, i get the same invisible character models
any other advice please?

Are you installing EQ to your program files folder? If so reinstall outside of it.

Google "classic Shell". download and install it. Then click your windows button and just hit ok and your start menu will look like windows 7 and you can get to your control panel etc same way you always have.

i agree but that list is specific for microsoft phoning home with ur data. and that list only covers the things people can actually turn off. not the stuff that cant be turned off. And really how many people would even do that.

after doing some research, windows 10 doesnt support my graphics card. its a radeon x1650 pro, so im assuming that is what is causing the problem, is there anyway around this? can i switch back to win 7?

Oh wow, a backwards compatibility problem with Windows 10.
I'm shocked. :rolleyes: That's what these Microsoft fanboys won't tell you about before selling you on the upgrade, among 50 other things.
Good luck. Nothing is free, remember that and you won't get taken for a ride again.

My computer had a similar issue.
1) Do a clean wipe of windows 10 (wipe everything) and reinstall all drivers
2) Remove your computer's hardware and plug it back in.
3) Bios update.
Generally bios updates are pretty easy now a days. Find software online throw it on a usb stick. Load bios before windows boots and there should be an area inside the bios that says update bios and select from usb stick. Warning if you mess up on a bios update you can break your computer.
My computer was all messed up after update. First I did a clean wipe and it fixed 50% of the problem. After that my memory was messed up. I contacted Asus tech support and they said I had to pull my hardware and plug it back in. I did that and it worked. They also recommended a bios update if the previous steps didn't work. I did the bios update anyways. Now my computer runs better than ever with windows 10.

This would be assuming he has 1920x1080 resolution. By the looks of his desktop I don't think it is, probably most likely since his graphics card isn't compatible though.

ya so it was the fact that the graphic card wasn't compatible with windows 10.
I was able to find a patch that would allow it to be, and then installed the proper driver, and now its running better than ever so far.

That video card is 7 years old and expecting any Microsoft/AMD support for it is foolish.

in your windows 10 installation go to your settings > update and security >backup and from there should be an option to backup and restore to windows 7
