Well, after being foiled for HOURS. I finally got this to work...mostly.
Got titanium from a DL place.
the velius version Casey
Virus scan stopped it from working for an hour
( I am not a PC tech type)
I put EQ in the dont scan list..this worries me as it detected 2 trojans

yadda yadda ,finally got into the game
now it says spells out of date and I cant create
"goto p1999 for new patch"
I got new patch,extracted to P1999 folder>YES to all
still not working

As an E-7 Sniper...I dont give up easy.
been 10 hours...I am about to quit. lol
What am I missing?

Hey Gy,

did you get it figured out?

If not, what exactly is happening when you start up the launcher?

What operating system are you on?

have you deleted the files that are mentioned in the startup guide? https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2651

step 3 is probably the most important making sure you don't patch the game.

make sure you're on version 42 for the files that can be DLed from the same page in step 1.

post here if you are still having troubles and don't forget to google, or search this forum as well, many problems have been faced and solved right here already

my theory:

Look in your P99 folder for a folder named P99Files42. Copy+paste everything from inside that folder to your P99 folder. Slay orcs.

im pretty sure that version DOES have a virus in it, some of the people who play on this server are less than good people. if i were you i would go through a different avenue than this community to set the game up. with your credentials, you have to know someone tech savvy that you could ask who you would trust.

Move your EQ folder from the default install location of c:\program files or c:\program files (x86) to something like c:\everquest.

re-patch making sure you extract the files to the new c:\everquest folder

change your launch shortcut to c:\everquest\xxx /patchme (those xxx are just placeholders for the .exe file) instead of what ever wacky default it was.

Play the class you love and send a tell to a random member of <Rustle> for free gear.

Dude you are insane. He said he got Platinum from a "DL place". Do you know what one exactly? Did you know EQ Platinum is not specific for p99? Are you really badmouthing the ENTIRE community because you don't know what a false positive is?

The copy that was being shared via torrents for a long time had a copy of ShowEq or MQ2 bundled with it and that gets picked up as a trojan but it doesn't actually do anything malicious and doesn't get run by default

And since you're so paranoid about viruses, you may want to research P99 itself a little more.
