Hi,
Been browsing the forum for a while and have seen that Enchanters are quite capable of soloing efficiently once you reach the mid levels.

But I was wondering if its really rough starting your P99 experience with a enchanter? From what I could read they are the squishiest of all the casters? Not having access to any twink gear am i sticking my head in to deep?

Also wanted to check with you fine people if there are plenty of groups that want enchanters, I do enjoy being able to solo some nameds and such but its the social aspect of the game im after first hand.

Chanters are great as you said soloing at mid levels with charm. It can be a bit rough in the beginning. Most people solo until around level 5/7 then hit up a noobie dungeon. So, until then you will likely solo which can seem a bit tedious. (Your DoT isn't very good and your nuke has a long recast) But the lower levels can go quickly with CB belts, bone chip quest etc.

The good thing is you are an int caster and most int gear is fairly cheap. Once you get your illusion spells you can start questing for the Stein of Maggok which is a nice int item. You can quest this indefinitely and sell it to others for about 300pp each.

I currently have a 33 chanter. I didn't find the low levels that bad. I was surprised how well the chanter pet worked at low levels for soloing. It seemed to distract mobs long enough to kill them without too much risk which is all you need. It's effectiveness seems to drop off quickly as you level up and it sorta sucks in group situations but not really needed there, either.

You should watch/read stuff by tecmos.

Enc are golden from 16+ groups will always want you. If you are a high elf/gnome CB orcs are a easy path.

If you are a darkelf head to EC tunnel grab some buffs from high levels at the tunnel and rip though the first few levels then join orc and derv camps.

If this is literally your first experience with EQ, enchanter could have a steep learning curve, along with bard.

For a complete newbie people often recommend druid to get accustomed to the game. It's a great class to get a decent view of EQ. Necromancer, mage, paladin, ranger, druid - I would say these are the best starting classes for a complete newbie (with druid and paladin being 1st and 2nd probably).

playing enchanter is not like playing any other class. sometimes you will feel like you have total control over the entire battle, other times you will feel like you have zero.

take it slow and look up every spell on the wiki. make SURE to get as much charisma as possible, after that focus on intellect and armor

Enchanter is one of the most sought after group classes, they provide excellent crowd control, damage, haste and slows.....enchanter is one of the more skillful solo classes, my first character was an enchanter and soloed to 60 no problem

My first character on P99 was an enchanter and I made it to lvl 35 before deciding to make a druid which is what I always do whenever I start a new server. Druids are such a great starting class, strong soloers and can group effectively with heals and damage shields. Not to mention being able to travel the fastest around the world and make good money around 400pp/hour average once you have all your ports.

That being said I think enchanter is the most fun class to play and if that is what you wanna do then go for it. I would 100% recommend reading this guide and the spell guide by the same author. http://wiki.project1999.com/Xornns_Enchanter_Guide

If you're intimidated by going enchanter first then I would say go druid or necro.

Low levels are actually quite easy due to pets that are very strong for these levels. The only problem is that your level 8 pet (and all other pets 8+) are sold at Highhold Keep...

My experience on P1999 as an erudite enc was:
1-4 kill a few mobs so that you can afford some tiny daggers, summon that pet and melee every blue and white con down, letting pet tank when you are low on hp
4-10 I went to Warrens and grouped with just about anyone of close level and used pet to vaporize every blue/white again.
10-12 two skeletons at Paineel zone in in Tox Forest, tash one, let pet tank and nuke a couple times.
12-15(16) Now in Erud's crossing on the island spawn about 9 wisps. They are highly social, but easy enough to pull down and let pet tank one while you use your new lvl 12 dot and nuke once to make sure you do 51% or more damage. Hoard as many Lightstones as you can.
16+ Just head to NK and turn all these Lightstones for research book quest. You will probably get 2 levels up and will be like 18+

Then just go to FV/OT, grab Breeze spell and learn how to charm solo or group.
