So, because I am ill informed on a variety of topics (most things) and I like to reason off the cuff working from other people's facts, I decided I would take the opportunity to allow someone (or something) else tell me what I think. It was refreshing to be told in no uncertain terms, precisely how I think.

I took political spectrum quizzes from two places ^^

How do you think?

I forgot to share my results:

gotoquiz- centrist social moderate: left -1.25, libertarian -.69

politicalcompass: was about the same, a tad to the left, but about a bit authoritarian

Closed both windows without copying results, but yeah was something like that ^^

Retook the politicalcompass quizz and it showed me more libertarian this time not sure what I answered differently, but not far off from original spot on graph either.

Result:

Economic Left/Right: -1.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.82

Some of the questions were goofy. For instance, the one about abstract art seemed like an obvious allusion to the nazi degenerate art thing, yet I have no idea what it has to do with political philosophy objectively.

Yeah I didn't understand that one. I don't have much respect for abstract art though.

The statement is opinionated and intolerant though. Not sure whether that is more left or right, but seems to be more authoritarian.

You've praised national socialism, but none of your other expressed views are really congruent with that ^^ I think you are just seeing the difference between your reasoned positions and your chosen positions. Your a authoritarian only in that you want to impose your positions, which happen to be mostly libertarian-left, on others.

I think it's more because of what R Flair said about some of the questions linking dumb shit like child care to whether you are authoritarian or not.

I'm pretty sure the only libertarian belief I have is in personal responsibility. I am someone who thinks the (democratically elected) government should be powerful enough to do things like conditional citizenship, conditional rights, and the regulation of birth rates to decrease the world population to a more reasonable level, and my beliefs have more to do with culture than politics. That is hardly a libertarian position. It's an authoritarian liberal position. Nowhere in my posting have I advocated for anything other than an extremely strong central government.

Libertarian right centrist for me overall... I think my annoynce with some questions of questioable validity (fucking research methods classes + autism, etc) probably skewed the results somewhat though. I'm probably more libertarian though correctly identified somewhat right.

I got left libertarian.

I do find this survey quite biased, it felt like the gitling survey I learned about back in college where the wording of certain questions are biased for some to understand but not all leaving the validity of the test being low. Yes I understood the questions, but I felt they were worded in a way that wouldn't measure the test well.

Yeah I'd say a little more right and a little more libertarian from Reagan is about correct.
The difference for me is the difference between idea and practice. My core ideas likely wouldn't work in this environment, but an adopted practice within the environment tends to be logical. In a lot of ways I'm a Monarchist, but I have rationalized that this wouldn't work here. So I am comfortable with my adopted views, provided the whole world doesn't shift entirely to Left-Authoritarian :p

Yeah, some of the questions were odd. I think it pegged most of us pretty well, though I was pretty interested to see mine, because my views are pretty mixed. Mostly I just want to be left alone though lol ^^

I agree with that in theory, the spectrum has shifted left, but also expanded right.
Over all though, as far as Reagan goes (I was in HS before he left office), I'm considering his whole record, just as this "test" does. I can point out strong right issues with Reagan, but also strong left actions, such as his amnesty move for the ultimate solution to the need for amnesty ever again :rolleyes: And just considering his terms as president, his actions as California governor (I met him then, walking down my little street :D) he was a bit more in the left spectrum. I'm a reformed Reagan Democrat, or what I once was when I was young. My objective view of the test, I would say most closely aligns with constitutional issues, and as a long time member of the CP :)
