What do you do in the absence of inspiration?

Things I've found that help me find it again:

Lack of sleep
Fasting
Stress
Darkness
Meditation

heroin

LSD is better then heroin. You want something that will open your mind. Drop some acid and put on a 30 minute Dark Star.

What are you working on? Read some pre-Socratic philosophy.

This. Plus the right drugs. (One-off opioid use can be helpful but chronic (any more than 1 day really) will have the exact opposite effect. For one-off use you cannot have a previous history of chronic use as the damage done to the system you want to activate for inspiration is permanently altered and you will not glean much meaningful glial cell activation)

Anything ancient Greek really in regards to philosophy.

Wil add inches to your height and help u hit the dunks u always wanted.

Anything can be found at the bottom of one of those bottles.

Other than that, rides on my motorcycle or tracking wild animals through the desert or mountains. When I had my dirt/desert bike, I could do all three at once for super-inspiration power-ups :D

This is a good one.

You could steal stories from old news papers too. Sometimes interesting looking at what happened many years ago. Many old papers are on online archives or in libraries, have you ever read the papers from the day you were born?

Just start writing - the best way to get over writers block is to start writing, journal, short story, something to get the pen moving.

agreed. I feel like a crackhead just doing dabs with all the work that is required. Just give me a pipe and some bud and i'm good lol. I save the acid for concerts.

Psychedelics get a pass because you aren't taking it to just escape. And even if you are, there is still an amount of woke that's distilled from the experience which sets higher purpose.

exigent circumstances. I actually don't consider psychotropics and psychedelics to be "drugs". Although there are certainly people abusing them as "drugs".

btw I was just kidding about the bourbon ;) It does help in some cases with composing music, if not abused, but writing imo just gets tangled if more than just a drink or two. I mean for fiction writing, but research writing or non-fiction, well you want to be pretty clear headed. I don't know if you are speaking of fiction or non-fiction though, I assume fiction as that's more the risk of writers block. Block can be from anything, even diet, maybe more so. Just depends on the person. Do something else for a bit, eat some healthier foods, watch TV less and read a book out in the sunshine or something (with paper hehe).
