Its insane how beautiful Jeri Ryan still is. I must be getting old because i might be even more attracted to her now than before.
Its great that they are offering a VR version of this, but there are actually a few games that already offer similar gameplay. Artemis and Armada 2 for ex.

Ubisoft use to be pretty solid years ago. Most publishers have slid in recent years. I'm not so hot about VR, but an ST tactical (e.g starfleet command) on AR would be good. AR as in augmented reality.

I've been using VR since DK2 launched. For the way I primarily game (space ship cockpits, WWII fighters, the occasional A-10, racing games) It's indescribably awesome. I am with you on the majority of VR not being very solid; that is until someone does a better Omni-treadmill than the Virtuix or KatWalk. Infinideck may work, but that's another 3 years from being something I'd want to put in my home. It's too big.
I see AR as being a business device, VR as a "fun" device. You've seen Hololens, yeah?

Artemis is cool, for sure. Armada 2...is that a Trek game? I thought those were top-down strategy types?

I swear her filmography on wiki is inaccurate.
I was flipping thru new movies on Comcast, and I saw "Jeri Ryan" in the title credits. I said hmm not sure how she's looking these days so I passed on it.
Now I'm going to find it tonight and see if it's indeed her in this movie since wiki claims no movies since 2011

Fair, but a counterpoint would be that these are not gamers. They are not us, they are not people who know VR is now a thing and it's pretty possible this is the first time any of them have tried VR.
Remember the videos of grandparents first DK2 reactions?
Even after messing around with VR for almost two years, I still get a little blown away every once in a while.

This looks like a first person iphone app that encourages you to buy 5 copies in order to play with your friends. The future is here folks.
If you like slider bars and toggle switches, pretty much any video game's settings menu looks more fun than this.

I don't know, I think in maybe 10 years when the technology has advanced this kind of thing will be a lot of fun. Right now it seems like a gimmick.
And I'm a trekkie.
Who remembers plopping down 20 bucks for 2 minutes in a shitty VR machine FPS back in the day with graphics worse than wolfenstein?

Well said. VR is still very much a gimmick.

No interest n VR at the moment, an oculus rift first edition or whatever might be extremely collectible in a few decades tho

I do, it was awful. The head tracking latency was enough to make me physically ill after those 2 minutes, and whatever shitty flight game I was playing looked a lot like someone had just used ms paint to fill in the outlines to make the textures.
But, times have changed, and I can't imagine playing a cockpit-type game without VR ever again.
I'm a huge skeptic about technology, especially when you have some jackass talking about REVOLUTION!!
I knew 3d was bullshit
I know 4k tv (as of right now) is bullshit
I believe VR is not bullshit and I say that because I've been heavily using the technology for two years.
Within a few months, there will be demo stations for both Rift and Vive in a lot of major retailers; if you still think it's bullshit...go try it out. It really does have to be experienced to understand.
