Hail all,
Everquest was the first (and probably ONLY) game that captured my attention like no other game before or after. I remember countless days and nights, pizza, beer and junk food, all blurring my reality while immersing myself in the world of Norrath.
No other game since has captivated me like EQ. And certainly no other MMO. Although EQII was ok, It just wasn't the same.
EQ had it right!! It wasn't supposed to be easy and it never was. Death in game actually meant something and in the early days, a corpse run was an adventure in itself. We had respect for the mobs and it wasn't just a mindless hack 'n slash fest like many of today's MMOs. And working on my Epic was...Epic :-)
Forged friendships became meaningful. We trusted our companions and honor was not just a term used for roleplay!
Although I only ever played one single class and character (Shadowknight), it was a requirement to learn and know the other classes and individual play styles if you and your party wanted to survive.
So, here I am. Returning to the world of Norrath after 13 years, hoping to rekindle that magic and passion I had in those days long gone.
I logged in last night, created my character as he was in the early 2000s, played a few hours and it immediately brought back fond memories. I found myself immersed again!
....here's to reliving those glory days and adventures once again
