The reputation of red99 is a little bit like a prison colony, but who doesnt like a challenge.

I haven't seen this in a long time. If you run into one, you level elsewhere, or level an alt.

I'm sure you realize you can out level that twink player in an hour or 2. Sure there's a population issue, and if you level with someone and send them berger tells. They are most likely gonna remember that, and make it harder on you leveling up. I know this from first hand experience because I love to shit talk players and they try to blacklist me from groups. But most importantly there's no line to wait to farm places.

I'm hoping Discord holds together better. Hard to say though, I've always been a conquest style faction war player, and I heard EQ team PvP didn't do so good (I just PvE'd in EQ, my PvP effort went into UO at the time, I was a founder and officer of one of the largest guilds in the game). I've always found though that uh FFA pvp was pretty abusive, and most players didn't stick around in such communities very long. But what EQ PvP had was a lot of active players from the PvE servers to pull from, but p99 only runs with like a half full classic live server, so not that constant flow of curious bodies falling into such FFA servers here. And the less you have the worse it is (e.g. ~100 peak sux).

Yep, and I agree with you. When you bring people in to join your regular groups or into guilds especially, it makes a big difference. Classic EQ really isn't a great solo game, it's a great co-op/group game, one of the best ever developed.

Don't let the age deceive you, I still like playing Quake pvp, though still a CTF mode player which is becoming even more rare in recent years. A lot of older games (https://youtu.be/HhuH0l9Wqfc) are just far more superior to modern games in about every way. Modern games don't chase fun factor so much any longer, they are all mostly F2P games chasing after the "MMO big whale" (A good google search term) player willing to spend $1000's in the item shop before they move onto the next game, both gamer and developer/publisher. At least with red or p99 in general (I hope soon discord too), you get players that are just really liking a game over decades, willing to stick with it, even when we have less active numbers than the trendy come and go games. It's just too bad Verant developed EQ pvp as more of an afterthought, but still appeals to some pvpers.

I love reading countless threads of people bitching about blues raid scene, yet when the suggestiom of try red comes about they bitch about fungi twinks. I have leveled countless chars to 50 and only encountered a small handful of fungi twinks.

Red server is ripe for the picking if you dont want to sit on your ass all day at a raid mobs spawn point waiting for fte. Raid mobs literally are waiting to be killed for days so why not grow a pair and
