Velious Faction Recommendations?

Probably addressed before, but I didn't see too many specifics. IIRC:

Dorfs: Halfway done for you when you get there, armour quests are very "meh".
Dragons: Kill lots of giants and no dragons. Armour is good AC, best other stats.
Giants: Kill lots of dorfs and dragons, no giants. Armour has good other stats, best AC.

Back in original EQ, I went the easy route with Thurg faction. I'd like to try to go Dragon this time. I realize I will likely have eventually get MQ's on the armour bits and buy/loot the gems, but wonder if anyone can offer any advice on factioning?

Just kill lots of giants?

I too have elected to ally myself with the Veeshan's brood. It is my understanding that their favor is most readily secured with elimination of the giant threat in the Wake inc Lands. I have heard adventurers have laid perpetual siege to the western gate of Kael to this end. Perhaps start there?

well you can choose to ally with dwarf and dragon at same time. so i don't see why you are only mentioning to ally with dragons alone?

Dwarves offer quest outside of the armor molds that are worth your time. like the 10th ring or 7th shawl.

You can skip farming thurg armor and raid plane of growth or Hate 2.0 for mid armor pieces and save your gems for dragons.

I guess I managed to be KOS in both Skyshrine and Kael last time, but I suspect that might have been due to various dragon raids. Yes, I'll be non KOS in Thurg and Skyshrine; at least that is the plan.

when you first enter Velious you are kos to giants and dragons and need to work one of them up. but yeah you can ruin your giant and dragon faction easily too which is not practicle.

Highly recommend the CoV faction for its quests

most classes in the game have BIS or near to it quests through Claws of Veeshan

plus you can easily keep Coldain faction and utilize 2 cities ( Skyshrine/Thurg) if you only kill giants

Whatever you do, if you decide to go for dragons and dwarves, if your raiding guild decides to go after King Dain, make SURE you camp before he dies otherwise its a -1500 faction for thurgadin and dain which can be annoying to repair. If your a tank class that might be hard to do but just a thought. Dain is a great fight but be aware if you ever need to go back into thurg.

I should very much like to join you for this. Unfortunately I will not be able to join in the slaughter of snow giants until I have completed my training, which I anticipate will require another 10-15 Norrathian moons. May fate allow we find ourselves allied at that time.

So, you also have the option of going pro dragon/giant factions at the same time. Kill giants until you are ally with CoV. Then kill dwarves until you are ally with kromriff/kromzek.

Picking factions is for wimps. Kill it all. Fix your faction for hand ins when you need to. Stop being a sissy.

any idea how many faction hits off regular mobs it would take to reach dubious or apprehensive by CoV enthusiasts?
