Red, mean stance:

I firmly believe that red pvp must include item loot. A corpse run with (maybe coin loot?) is WoW, carebear, aww it's bad enough you died horse shit.

Players on a red server should be on edge, careful of who they befriend and trust. People wishing to play at a blue capacity should be extremely wary of fellow adventurers jealous of their gear.

Speaking of gear, why are all these 10-40 characters running around with fungi tunics and BD bracers? Because there is NO PENALTY FOR BEING AN ASSHOLE! Maybe people that never played RZ don't get it, but twinking makes you a target. Some people enjoy being a target. The limited population makes it much easier to hunt newbies because there is little fear of them turning and banding against you; However, it is that little globe of light that may change the problem on the server.

Blue, what is pvp stance:

Players log onto P1999 red server, expecting a cruel world full of angry villains. Instead, they see a community of helpful and friendly players for the most part.

During their initial level up phase they will most certainly encounter someones pet project attacking them that has more money equipped than they can ever hope to obtain. Following this attack, the assailant will undoubtedly cheer in victory in global server chat that they "own" the particular zone the new player was in.

So, they are left with the impression that PvP is simply that the server lords shall smite them whenever they please. There is no recourse, and they must put up with the abuse.

To hell with this, I'd rather just level up and die to npcs on the blue server!

So the question remains, would a rule change make the sub-60 PvP healthier? Would being looted encourage people to try harder and play safer? Would the elitists cry if they lost their fungi to an unruly band of shadow knights?

Edit: I just wanted to include that people already PvP like complete douchebags. Casting through floors/walls, clicking TL boxes, running around with 60s healing them, etc. That will not change or increase/decrease. This is the nature of PvP.

I think it's been said before they're not going to add item loot now, but would consider it for future servers (such as Discord :o)

Just reset the server back to classic, it can't possibly get any worse than it already is honestly. Also, who cares it's a freaking emulator which means it has a timeline before it rots anyway. It's genuinely the only way for a quick surge of players even if it's small. JUST DOOOOO ITTTTT lol

This server is a Frankenstein of unclassic custom changes (poorly implemented might I add), and a hybrid of pvp rulesets (worst aspects).

No surprise the devs are Mia for years just asking for PayPal donations.

I twinked on RZ.

I wasn't a target. I killed countless poor schleps, and when they ganged up on me enough to actually get damage in, I pulled a hp ring and they got nothing.

The only thing item loot would do is let twinks steal lowbie gear. I remember most of faydark running around without pants because we'd kill you for them if we saw you wearing them.

Dunno why the 60s would want it. The velious haves don't need an extra edge on the havenots.

Personally I made my entire fortune between PKing and auctioning. I left naked people alone if they didn't attack me. Unless someone was wearing something I wanted to sell I was just hindering myself for a later gank I wanted.

Low level twinks will always feel invincible, but it doesn't take much to take you down when you start bringing in 2-3 people with mojo sticks or ivandyr's etc.

It's surprising how boring it is to kill people when your used to getting a reward.

I'm of the opinion that PvP is either fun or it isn't and people will primarily engage in it based on that.

Adding penalties to death does nothing to really make the actual PvP engagement itself more entertaining. It just serves as a disincentive to repeatedly rush back into a fight to the point of trivializing a victory.

No I don't think your idea would help an already PvP starved server and would actually result in empowering the fungi twinks to grief any new blood that still might come on the server.

It's level 60 alts fighting; what's more important taking your nemesis's Fungi Tunic or helping them gank a Gossamer Robe?

When this starts happening they get scared and don't want the attention they currently get. When they start being stupid in a zone and another twink shows up and recruits the local population that just died, they zone plug or die.

also item loot stupid

the people that played on rallos zek for years , on average looted less than 10 items of any value over a 3 year timespan


mostly MR bracers, and bullshit items, the real twinks all had no drop planar gear and just raped people

Once and a blue moon some guy would go LD with his fungi tunic on. Happened like twice in the servers history. lol


Basically people just avoid pvp, even more so than regular pvp.

Truth.

Casters you'd hope for smr but it'd usually get bagged, so you'd settle for silversilk legs, or if you were really lucky, hbb. The worst was trying to loot lore items and realizing you forgot to transfer that oracle robe and getting the error message.

It wasn't really pvp somuchas player vs running-dude-becoming-steadily-more-naked. Out dps-ing their bagging-while-running/gating was a weird mini game.

Honestly I made far more killing cyclops hunters in OOT than i ever did off item loots. Pop in OOT for oracle kill 10min before pop, try to get to AC spot/cycs before they saw you in zone, then kill oracle for 600g.

most of the time they just ignore each other. twinks are lookin for easy kills, not some kind of fight.

Neither want to lose gear. And honestly they have enough hp buffer to bag fungi + haste and try for the hp-ring pull at death, worst case scenario.

Chances of fungi loot is stupid small. You'd have to win the blinding lottery to get one.

Leave everything else (including Billy's 9-page armchair game designer custom server Groundbreaking Awesome Idea) off the table.

y do ppl still make these threads? The staff probably click on "PvP Server Chat" like it's the electrified doorknob leading to the office of their soul-crushing desk job.
