Before I throw some money at a random person on the interwebz, I thought I would check here...

For reasons computational, sociological, and religious I cannot articulate on this forum, I am shopping for a refurbished laptop. I am looking for:

* Something that will run EQ titanium decently.
* A manufacture date as close as 2000 as possible.
* Comes with Win 2K OS.
* Cheap.

So far I've discarded numerous IBM ThinkPads built around the time of the T20 and Dell Latitude C Series mainly because of rarity.

Right now I'm leaning towards something from the Dell Latitude D Series, but that is so 2004.

I'm sure there are huge gaps in my knowledge about that time period, even though I worked in the industry and had not dropped acid in 10 years. Surely someone on this forum has better recall than I?

Thanks!

yeah...latitude D610 with 8gb from PC Liquidation may be your best bet...under $200 and should run EQ titanium....

i think this is an awesome idea. i hope you find one. making windows 10 machines back compatible is a pita, and its only going to get worse as we go. any old laptop that is used but still working at this point is probably very close to motherboard failure. finding a New old Stock machine would be golden. good luck man!

Yeah! I dream of new in box ... Acer TravelMate 7xx

Hopefully I can find something that works well with DOSbox, too. I wrote a Quake King of the Hill mod in 1997 and I'd love to get that running again, too.

The irony is it is easier to get Mac games from 1990 to 1995 running than PC games from 1995 to 1998. Go figure.
